Great Job Gus! Thanks for the info. Before I picked up my bike I had a local guy add 2" of padding as my hip flexors could not deal with the stock seat position. I have since added the T-Rex forward controls and after some time realized they still "splayed" me out and it was causing problems. Dropped a boatload of cash and got the DePretto controls and this helped quite a bit. Added a new smaller air hawk, but found it didn't help much. Pulled the trigger and got the mustang seat and it was like I was back on the stock seat, I couldn't hardly get my feet up on the pegs. Added my original large air hawk and stuck the new smaller one inside to get more "elevation". This worked for me. But....two pads on a $380 seat really seemed like a waste of money. I just returned the Mustang seat. Over the winter, I will learn a new skill. "How to modify/rebuild a motorcycle seat". If that doesn't work well, then I guess I will once again throw a boatload of money at a Corbin seat. Thanks for the great video!

As a cyclist and biker myself, I understand the importance of choosing a comfortable saddle. It is essential for cyclists, especially those who ride for extended periods or participate in races, to find a saddle that suits their needs at very early stage. I agree with all the points you mentioned in your video. Additionally, it's worth noting that women tend to have wider sit bones compared to men. Therefore, what may be comfortable for women may not be the same for men. As a man, it is crucial to consider a saddle that not only supports your buttocks but also has a slimmer or tapered downward nose. This design helps reduce pressure on your inner thighs, preventing the blockage of blood flow and discomfort during longer rides. This is particularly true for shorter riders when your legs are tightly hugging the saddle, the numbness on your inner thighs will quickly build up due to the reduced blood flow. Therefore, it is essential to find a saddle that takes these factors into account for a more enjoyable riding experience. Have a comfy ride!!

Great review of the seats! Thank you for taking the time! I took your advice and went with the corbin front and the mustang rear seat which as you said tremendously improved comfort! The only thing I miss are the helmet hooks that were on the bottom of the stock seat--apparently, I'm the only one on the Internet that used them, since no else finds that to be a problem. And I haven't found a fix that doesn't involve adding more keys to my keychain.

As always, excellent instructions. I never get actual pain, but my butt does need to be shifted off to one side every 15-20 minutes after the first hour or so of riding, then every 5-10 minutes. I used a stock forward seat, but I'm only 5'4". Also, I think that wider pillion seat is a good idea. My wife does not like the stock passenger seat, but a high rise sissy bar allows her to lean back a bit and made a huge difference. Again, thanks for the good work.

I’ve owned the Rebel 500 and now 1100, the Corbin is by far the best seat I’ve used. My commute to work is about an hour and when I go for a ride I’m usually on the road for 4-5 hours minimum. It just supports me far better than the mustang ever did. I also love how customizable the Corbin is. You can choose from many different finishes to different kinds of leather. Definitely a worth while investment.

Not long after purchasing the rebel (about the time this video came out) I watched and my brain said, "hmmm that's interesting". As a new rider, with the rebel being my first bike, I had no idea what was normal or comfortable or just me adjusting to riding a motorcycle. The factory seat did feel a bit off so I purchased the forward rider seat and I love the way it sort of locked me into the bike but I was still squirming after an hour of riding. Last week, having forgotten this fine video existed and with another weekend of moto-camping ahead, I purchased the air hawk. I feel a bit silly now that I've watched again because, yes, for the first day I did feel a bit like an air hockey puck slipping around. I got used to the slipping sensation but still not much relief. Well this has been a very long winded comment to say, my brain really enjoys your videos but it was my boney ass that brought me back here to re-watch and say thanks for the detailed review... I have a Corbin on order.

Hi Lari, it's great to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words! 🙏 The Corbin is deceiving... It is hard foam but because of the additional support, no discomfort or pain is felt, it totally surprised me as I was rooting for the mustang to be completely honest. When ordering, Corbin will customize the foam and shape to your requirements, they gave me additional tail bone relief based on my request. I also know they put softer foam for some of the female riders. Let me know if you have any questions Lari 👍
@larifari4371
Жыл бұрын
@@ontherebel11 Very intresting! I didn"t know they could do it with different foams. As I assume you got the hardest I wonder wether it still adds comfort to the shocks, sort of softening the road bumps a little. This is a little grape I have with my Rebel. I even reduced the tire pressure wich actually helped a bit. Not with the gas milage nor with the sporty ride of corse.

I have the Corbin Dual Tour and I had the luxury of riding into the Corbin factory and having it custom-fit. It's very comfortable! But I kind of agree with you about the looks. And it bolts to the rear fender, so you lose the ability to easily remove the seat. ...and if you don't add some padding under the metal bits, it will scuff your paint! I'm working on addressing the cosmetics with a sort of cap that covers the passenger seat and makes it look like a "gunfighter" style seat. Additionally, I hope to change out the bolt in the back to make it easier to remove. We'll see how that goes. I think Honda really messed up with the stock seat. Maybe it was fine for the smaller Rebels, but the acceleration on 1100 just drove my tailbone directly into the big metal bar at the back and gave a feeling of slipping off. Of course, I'm 6'0" and 280lbs, so maybe it just wasn't made for my size.

In the LifeofBurch video, he tried out the Corbin seat on his Rebel and noted that the Corbin seat scratched the paint on his Rebel. Has anyone else had the same experience with the Corbin seat scratching their paint? I'd like to get the Corbin, but if it's going to scratch the paint, I'm going with the Mustang. Thanks for any input that can help me make this decision.

Hi Pei, in all honesty I have seen other owners with scratches on the frame due to the Corbin, personally I have one spot on the frame that is due to one of the rivets rubbing on the frame. An easy fix is to protect the area if need be.

Thank you Kris! The Corbin will push you back a little, but depending on how long each ride is, you might not feel a big difference. Ask yourself how long you intend on keeping the rebel, if you plan on keeping it for a few years, it is in your interest to get the Corbin, as it will set you up to be the most comfortable when you decide to add the risers in the future. Remember, the ultimate comfort is when your back is perfectly vertical in addition to the right seat. It's a tough pill to swallow, but well worth it if you ride for extended periods of time frequently. 🤙

After multi-500+ mile rides, the air cushion add-on is fairly good for comfort as it has ties that hold it to the seat. So may be an option for riders who want to limit the budget.
