Rice terraces is the most beautiful landscape and must be preserve so that our future generation will able to see it beauties of man made rice farming.... Now rice terraces is at risks of losing it, if we don't rehabilitate and take care of our wonders of the world. There are a lot of factors affecting our rice terraces including climate, change, mining, and people lose of will to plant rice. Before they used to be 90% farmers but apparently we only have 10% farmers now who work at rice terraces. The main idea of this video is to be aware how we take care of our own 7 wonders of the world.. It is indeed a world class tourist destination therefore we must take action to make sure it is properly taken care of. If we don't make any action we might loose a world class heritage sites that we can only be seen here in the Philippines.

According to this video/document about Cordillera Rice Terraces. The Rice terraces is the source of food, work and means of living of all ifugao people. And the Rice terraces is very important to them because this is the “pamana” of their ancestors. And all the young people teach them at their young age. In their culture they need to preserve this because if they did’nt do this there’s a lot of benefits will destroy and there’s a lot of ifugao people will lose their profit. That’s why they need to preserve or protect of it. -RosemarieTuazon

Banaue Rice Terraces is one of the UNESCO world heritage site. It so sad to here that it faces so much challenges, climate change, lack of water source and etc. We need to preserved the Rice Terraces because this is where their main source of livelihood (90% of them and 10% are employed) and food of the ifugao peoples and of course it is very important to them because this is what their ancestors heritage. And it sounds good that elder people in cordillera teaching and practicing the young people in farming and the NAPC trying their best to rehabilitate the place. So let's preserved things that is left because we don't know what will happen next.

Indeed, Banaue Rice Terraces is very important for the Cordilleran people because as what I've seen or rather watched they must need to show a good take care of what they have and that is the Rice Terraces. Basically, it is the main source of their food, and even livelihood that is why if the rice terrace will destroy their lives will be affected as welll. Lastly, by simply conserving and rehabilitating the rice terraces they will assure that they will preserve the natural beauty of the rice terraces and for the generation today let us protect our natural resources like the rice terraces because it will be beneficial most for the Cordilleran people not only for them but also for the entire Filipinos and for the future generation. The Rice Terraces is the central of survival of the people in Ifugao, but the world is changing and this region is not immune. Mining, deforestation is slowly killing this place. The functions of the said place are very much vulnerable to climate and other environmental changes. It is more than rice terraces, more than just a breathtaking view. This place is basically their home, source of income, etc. The fact that they are facing these uncertainties will definitely have a huge impact in their livelihood.

According to the short documentary that i've watched is Banaue Rice Terraces is a number one source of their living. That is why it must be preserved generation to the next generation not just because it is part of UNESCO World Heritage but because it is part of their culture, tradition, and heritage from their ancestors. Even if there's a lot of problems that they're experiencing they have the courage and motivation to give a solution and have faith to their everyday living. They are consistent on how they are going to protect their culture by teaching young children to give importance to their beloved culture from their ancestors.

For 2,000 years, the Banaue Rice Terraces have been the priceless contribution of our Philippine ancestors to humanity. Dubbed as “the 8th Wonder of the World”, was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. It represents an enduring illustration of an ancient civilization which displays Filipino skills, surpassed various challenges, and witnessed Philippine history unfold. In recent decades, there’s been a sparked and steady curiosity towards The Banaue Rice Terraces as people flock to the place not only to see its beauty but also to have a firsthand experience of this man-made architectural wonder. Time passes by... We can not deny the effects of modernization that people cost, One of the main threats is the rapid pace of development in the area, And by rapid pace, we mean unmanaged development. If the fields are not cultivated constantly, they soon fall into disrepair. Working high up in the fields is arduous and brings little financial reward, Many of the younger ifugao no longer wish to pursue this backbreaking way of life and leave their villages for tourism jobs in neighbouring towns. If we will not give importance to all the precious things that were left by our ancestors. Little by little, It will no longer passed either seen and benefits to the upcoming generations. It will all vanished... Calling out all attention, to start now, to stop modernization and maintain natures, natural resources. You know, we all benefit here so let's stop destroying our "Pamana”. As what is happening right now, we should all be aware why all of this is happening. Maybe this is a wake up call to all of us, Always remember there is a consequence in everything that we do. Almost of us are aware that there are acts of nature that we can't stop and just like nature wants us to repay because we human beings destroy our nature. In time, All that we do will backfires to us.

They also encourage their children to study more and live their life in the fullest. The rice terraces are an outstanding example of land use that resulted from harmonious interaction between people and it's environment which has produced a steep terraced landscape of great aesthetic beauty now vulnerable to social and economic changes. Based on what i understand Banaue rice terraces is a cultural heritage for them and shows just how ingenious their ancestors were to find solutions to their problems. They continue to plant rices to sustain their needs while contributing the preservation of the rice culture and also they refuse to abandon their terraces because of the desire to let the tourist see the beauty when they visit their heritage and i see It helped economically. It boosted cultural participation and thereby binding Filipinos together, becoming even more united.

As the world continue to change it is sad to see how the rice terraces of cordillera one of the unesco world heritage site is kept on changing and slowly losing its glory. It is not just about the pleasure, the beauty that the rice terraces can give you but it is about livelihood of the Filipinos, it is their home, culture and tradition. This is where their source of food is coming from, if its will eventually destroyed by mining, deforestation, climate change there would be no food for them they will be force to work somewhere else away from there home. the government should be involve take a huge step on what is happening. As per elders it is so great to see how they teach and educate the youth or the next generation about farming/rice terraces, traditions and their culture. The Ideology about farming should be change, youth should not be discourage and influence by the ideologies of what is ideal. Bringing the former glory of rice terraces through rehabilitation and conservation is a huge task and it will not be easy but if locals, together with the government and everyone that is involved would work together it is not impossible. Let's take care and protect on what is left, this not just about the beauty it gives it is about the home of cordillera people our fellow Filipinos.

The Cordillera Rice Terraces is the main source of livelihood of the 90% of the people who is living in the said place. According to James Patupay Sr “culture has to be practice and taught constantly”. I’m happy because they have strong belief when it comes in culture, they teach their culture to the young generation for them to avoid hunger in the future. But it makes me sad because of the climate change that lessen their harvest, but they do garden as an alternative. Those abandoned fields, they plant vegetables. And for those people who do mining in Banaue Rice Terraces please, be considerate and think of the people and their lives before you do such thing that can destroy their living. And for The National Anti Poverty Commission do everything that you can so that our dearest Banaue Rice Terraces will be preserved and conserved for the next generation.❤️

Needless to say, the rice terraces were important to the survival of the ifugao people; it is even strongly ingrained in their culture since the knowledge to sustain theses fields have been passed on from generation to generation. This perfectly exemplifies how humans can harmonize with nature in order to come up with sustainable agricultural system using traditional techniques.

Based on the short documentary that I've watched recently i just wanna share or rather express my feelings and my gratitude for the life that i have today. Banaue Rice Terraces is a really beautiful and meaningful place. It represents the harmony between man and environment. Also the Banaue Rice Terraces is a perfect example of balance of nature. The people living in the area who takecare the surroundings, and the environment is the provider of their foods in return. They mentioned a quote that "Land is a way of life" for them. For the reason that they lived in the land where the land is giving a life for them, or a business to earn. To be honest its very hard to lived there. One of the reason is climate change. They would not expecting a storm to come, and they dont even know how strong is that typoon. It may cause erosion and it can affect their lifestyle. The community relies on farming as their source of food. Therefor, it puts realizations in my life . Life is not easy for any of us, we must have a perseverance in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted enough for something that we received in our everyday life

Rhea Joy Miranda As I watched the documentary , I was able to appreciate more the beauty and the importance of Cordillera Rice Terrances for it’s a cultural heritage and moreover it’s a need for a survival to the indigenous people and a way of life also. Along the way it stated there that some rice terraces are already been abandoned due to poor irrigation systems resuting from the effect of large scale mining, even the destruction of forest and water sources. It gives me a heartache or a little burden because we all know that mining really has an effect but other people keep on doing that thing to find treasures but they didn’t considered that sooner or later it will have a bad effect in our environment and what’s worst is it can make erosion and it will lead to poverty because it will scares indigenous people because it will definitely bury their fields and their livelihood will be affected too. Another things it says their the lack of support of our government. It’s so sad that these indigenous people make substitute for “palay” just to fill or meet their needs. Also I think it has an effect in the “preservation” of their “ancestral domain”. Their culture slowly dying too that’s why they teach their children as soon as possible on how to farm for them to preserve their culture and they keep on encouraging these young generation because they want to bring back their culture again.

What I understand about this documentary is to give attention on our global system. People on Cordillera keep on suffering because of climate change specifically to those people who are living near side the rice terraces which is this was their main source of living. Plus those people who do mining causing a big effect such as landslide and giving the people of Cordillera a problem, because the other parts of rice terraces was destroyed. But aside of those problem these people doing their best to survive the rice terraces and what. However, what i like the most of these people is they don’t stop teaching young generation their tradition and transferring what they used to do. Cordillera rice terraces are one of the most popular places in our country which is being residential to our hardest working Filipinos in the country. Rice terraces being the Philippines' main livelihood resources. We must help each other to conserver and preserve in order for the future generations to also experiece this beautiful amd helpful nature. We need everyone to contribute and help the people of the cordillera to maintain this terraces so they can keep plants alive. Everyone must be contribute to this. We need unity so cordillera rice terraces will keep running. Tho mining is helpful to miners, they must also think of the farmers because if they continue mining, the cordillera will be destroyed and our livelihood and economy will go down. Another impact of their farming is the climate change. They're harvest season change and they are not used to it that is why sometimes we experience shortage. I think to preserve yhis terraces, we must first discipline ourselves to prevemt climate change and to wake up each other that we must start moving and thinking of a way on how to preserve life.

Rice terraces represents the lives, struggles and aspiration of the cordilleran people. Lives because it's their source of food, income and their livelihood. They experience struggles because of climate change, modernization and poverty which lead to the destruction of rice terraces. Some rice terraces have already been abandon due to large scale of mining , logging and also the destruction of the water sources. It lessen the mass production of the rice so what they did for alternative was to make it as a garden of vegetables. Mining has a big impact on the land for it to become unstable that can cause to bury other rice fields as well that's why they encourage the children to do some work in fields because they want to bring the rice terraces to it's former glory so that in the future the next generation will not experience hunger.. If they had just protect and conserve the rice terraces before , then nothing would have happen.. Now I encourage everyone to protect and conserve our heritage sites this are the only treasures we can pass to our children and their children in the future. 😇😇😇
