The parallel thinking between Pseudoregalia and Corn Kidz 64 is WILD. You're telling me that two independent creators each released their own small-scale N64-era throwback 3D platforming game set in a surrealist dreamscape with a strange goat creature for the player character both within the same year? WHAT DOES IT MEAN???

omg this is such a sweet expierience. its literally like if those "How to unlock Luigi in Mario 64" playground rumors were entirely over the internet, and in modern day with a tight knit community. this is so neat!!!! really recaptures the mystery of those old n64 games. Calls back to things like the useless castle from Glover that only appeared when you 100% everything, or that one piece of chocolate behinds bars in Conker, or those grayed out tri-force pieces in OOT64. truly a magical gaming expirience by the sounds of it and something I'm really envious that you got to expirieince. its like if Luigi was in Mario 64 and a group of players had to come together and find any bit of evidence they could on how to unlock him over forums.

Finally someone else feels the same way about this game as I do. Using nothing but the steam forums to try and and find every last little thing and get past the level 6 door was such a fun experience. The fact that so little people are talking about this games drives me crazy.

Awesome video! I feel like I slept on Corn Kidz for a bit, but I don't think all the 100% stuff was entirely readily available by the time I got to it. I think it took me around like 10 hours of deliberate searching to find like 3 things near the end. Weirdly satisfying payoff for all that effort. Some of those secrets are EVIL though. That being said, I think this is a somewhat recent trend in games to design around and incorporate the most off-the-wall esoterica in the post-game or post-post-game, and I've liked pretty much all of it that I've seen so far. The trouble with this trend is that you can't really tell other people about it, for fear that you'll spoil them by even MENTIONING the games in which it's found. There's also a handful of games where that's kind of the main thrust though (mostly La-Mulana & La-Mulana 2). Also there are some games where that is the main thrust, but it's not immediately apparent, so the same caveat applies. On another note, another N64-like platformer came out literally 2 days after Corn Kidz, and it basically lived up to the massive hype I'd inflicted upon myself. Cavern of Dreams by Bynine, it's also good.

I can understand the developer only giving hints to locations of collectibles, but other people from the community giving even more vague hints in the forums is kind of infuriating.

This was such a cool game its a shame that it was too short I really hope the creator uses this as a template to make a bigger game with more levels. I know it's hard to make something that big without a big budget but this game deserves it. The music was awesome, the story was great, the gameplay was tight and the 90s aesthestic was knocked out of the park in a really big way. I didn't even know there was a level 5! I have to go back and play it now.

Unbelievably grateful that you exposed me to this game! Truly love the comfy and spooky vibes it had, as well as the rewarding collectible searches and tight platforming to boot. Really glad I stopped the video and bought it before the first spoiler warning and spent the last few days completing and thinking about it a lot. highly recommend anyone reading do the same, it's a really special blind experience - though I did use the Steam forums for hints later on, which I recommend (the secrets regardless were awesome and flipped my perception of the game around a few times over lol). really looking forward to Bogo's future creations :))

damn, now i wish i did seek help during my play through just so i could of been a part of those steam forums. I took this game as a "do it all yourself" kind of thing. it really takes you back to the n64 era.

It was fun, but virtually the entire game just being one map/level kind of really sucks. Classic platformer games you'd have minimum 10 different maps/levels. I kept playing through that pigland map wondering when I can finally unlock the next map only to discover this was basically it.

This game makes me feel the pain of Microsoft killing off Rare and reducing it to be a studio eternally stuck in development hell. This game really does feel like what Rare could have been, shall not Microsoft buy them up and they stayed with Nintendo instead. Shigeru Miyamoto was definitely a strong creative lead for Rare back in the day. This game is just full of that charm Rare games in the Nintendo era of the studio used to have. 10/10, a must-have game for fans of Rare platformers!

The thing with the world flipping is similar to the flipped castle in Castlevania SOTN. Also Stone Tower in Majora's Mask. Not sure if I've seen that done in a 3d platformer, though
