When my daughter started kindergarten, there was a boy in her class who had severe autism named Michael. His mom went in and spoke to all the kindergarten classes, explaining Michael's condition, about him, his likes and dislikes, how he was the same and different from the other kids, etc. She did that every year at the beginning of the year until middle school. In middle and high school, when they had kids from other grade schools mixed in, the kids from his grade school basically did what his mom did, sharing with other kids about Michael and who he was, sticking up for him, introducing him to their new friends, etc. Michael had very severe disabilities but was always included and so much of that was due to his mother, and how she taught and included the kids, starting from a young age.

Nothing but love and admiration for you Marci! Such a proactive advocate for your lovely daughter!!! I see how life with Freya is tentative because of the unexpected. You are very smart to take one day at a time and not stress about tomorrow! Skim the cream of the top and the rest will settle. You are not alone, you have God, your family and all your followers on KZitem…we really care and love you all!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Freya was so cute on this video. She was so excited with the colors and pieces. I have found another channel with a CDLS child. She was so adorable. I see where they have similar features. Your never to old to learn.

Great packets! I’m sure everyone would appreciate the gesture and the extra knowledge on CdLS! As an educator, I would! I’ve never taught a student with CdLS, but I have taught students with rare chromosome deletions and other disorders and we had trainings annually on those specific disorders so we were up to date on them and how to work with students with those disorders.

I just love Freya’s spunk and curiosity. I’m a semi retired preschool teacher, so I love observing preschoolers “do their thing”. They are ALL so individually unique and ALL have similarities and differences. In the grand scheme of theme of things, all people are special needs. You’re such a super Mom and person. I love how you provide varied learning experiences for all of your children. I miss teaching preschool so much and am able to get a little “fix” watching Freya. She seems to have the same personality as my only daughter-“Tiny But Mighty”❤️

I love your videos and look forward to new ones. This is so wonderful that you do this awareness for other families! I worked one-on-one with a special needs student for five years as a SpEd assistant before I taught, so this is very dear to my heart. You are amazing! Thank you for sharing Freda and your family AND your heart with us.

I know it's scary to think about sending Freya to kindergarten, when I placed my son in kindergarten the school did an awesome job of making things easier. I keep an open communication with all of my sons teachers and staff. It helps all of us to help my son.

Awareness Days/Months are weird. The oddest thing about them, for me, is many differ depending on country. It kinda misses the point because conditions are conditions no matter where the body experiencing them is located.
@betsybabf748

As long as people are giving it attention and spreading awareness, it doesn't matter which nation celebrates on which day. The purpose is recognition and education.
@DesMowadeng
Ай бұрын
@@betsybabf748 That was kind of my point. But it actually does matter quite a bit when what's being focused on by others isn't what individuals with the condition want attention drawn to. When we draw attention away from who an individual is and focus on what they struggle with we run the risk of having them viewed as a lot to deal or become involved with, resulting in difficult to form friendships and other relationships. But, for certain aspects of conditions it's important for our safety that others are aware of how conditions affect us.
