Oh how I remember watching "The Mike Douglas Show" as a kid! The best talk show of its time, indeed!!! It included a myriad of guest stars ranging from Richard Pryor to John Lennon & various other Who's Whos of the era. Bravo, Mike Douglas!!! R.I.P. Sir. R.I.P. to Carter Cornelius (a.k.a. Prince Gideon Israel) as well.

These aren't backing musicians its Carter Cornelius, Eddie, Rose Cornelius, and sister Billie Jo Cornelius. If you notice the brass players are playing the string parts so it doesn't sound as "majestic" The arrangements sound stripped down. This is cool because it's a group not a lot is written or known about. Carter passed in 1991. Eddie is a minister now but still has a great voice. Carter has a brother Frank that has a version of this here on KZitem from 1983 where he is singing the lead.

"Now I wouldn't mind it if I knew she really love me too, but I hate to think that I'm in love alone and there's nothing that I can do.." Sad but true words, I sing this song to myself so many times cause I too get played and jerked around by women that I really care and love for. There's nothing you can do what is there? You tell a person you love them and they don't look at it as something great. Love can put you in a misery state of mind that's hard to overcome...I'm going through that right to be 23 years old..

There were actually two album versions of this song and they sound very differently. The main version, played on radio, has the beautiful orchestra strings. The other version was a K-Tel Records version and had the strings but it didn't sound near as good. It's a great song either way but the original much slicker radio version is the best in my opinion.
@goodpup7881
9 жыл бұрын
+eyeball The K-Tel version was most like a re-recorded version they made years after the original was a hit. Artists in the 60's and 70's rerecorded a lot of their hits years later for cheap record labels like Dominion, K-Tel, etc. in order to have the right to license the song themselves and make a little money on the side once their careers were over.
