Phillip Sear plays two consecutive very short pieces from an 1899 set-'Leisure hours'-by the German composer Cornelius Gurlitt (1820-1901).
---------------------------------------------------
Gurlitt studied in Leipzig and Copenhagen and became a friend of Niels Gade and Robert Schumann (who used his works for teaching). He wrote operas, choral and symphonic works, but is best remembered for his piano music-particularly the teaching material, which is still anthologized today.
