In today's video I report about my walk from the Minions Village to the Cheesewring and the stone circles "The Hurlers".
The Minions Villag, short Minions is the highest village in Cornwall in the south of England. In the regional dialect - Cornish - the village is called Menyon. The village is situated at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level east of Bodmin Moor, northwest of Caradon Hill and about 6 km north of Liskeard. The enchanting moorland around the village is also known as Minions Moor.
As already mentioned, a dreamlike moor landscape awaits you there. Therefore the village is the perfect starting point for walks and hikes through the moor.
First records of the village date back to 1613 and it is believed that the name was derived from the Cornish word "menyon", which means stones. Since there are some famous stones in the adjacent bog, this would make sense. Among the famous stones are the Hurlers, which are three Bronze Age stone circles, and the Cheesewring, an impressive stone formation found on Stowe's Hill. There are also the remains of several quarries and relics of metal construction in the vicinity.
Furthermore, the area around Minions Village is also known for its archaeological sites.
