They're my favorite, hands down. I stumbled on a Corona natural hair brush when trying to finish an exterior door with Epifanes gloss boat varnish. It was an epiphany. With 200 grit sanding and 2 unsanded final coats with the Corona, I was very happy. Happier still when a professional painter ran his hands over it and asked if I sprayed the finish on. Even for an amateur, it's money well-spent. Never waste time with subpar equipment or supplies. I own 3 of the brushes now, and will buy more as I need them. One I stupidly destroyed some bristles with a hairdryer, but a quick trim and it is the best paintbrush I've ever used.

I always spraypaint my trim first, then touch up afterward. Most latex paint dries to the touch quickly but takes a few days to harden well. Also if the trim is the same color as the walls or ceiling, You can paint the trim with the same paint then apply a clear coat.

Cleaning a brush often makes them last. Dipping the brush in water(latex) or mineral spirits(oil based) right before using helps the cleaning process. As a DIYer, I’ve never heard of this brand, gonna give it a try. Thanks for all the useful info you share with us. I still use brushes I bought in the 70’s. Chuck Williams The Idaho Painter did a really helpful video about how to properly clean brushes. Using a 5-gallon bucket you basically submerse the brush into the water and press water through the bristles against the side of the bucket. One thing I’ve learned- don’t “curb” your brushes (hit them against your foot or any other surface) in order to get the water out after cleaning. Loosens the ferrule that holds the brushes together and voids any warranty. As the video mentioned- Corona brushes are nice enough to last a long time!!!

Corona brushes are great, _if you are masking._ why? corona has a proprietary 'flagging' method (which is basically fraying the ends of the bristles so that they will hold and release paint differently) and this gives them their feel and performance. unfortunately, this also makes them imprecise, because the tips are frayed. for trim, that's fine. proform contractor series is a great option for trim as well.

I spray/brush my crown stock, especially the glosses, the finish product before install. I cut a 1” x 1” length at 45 deg for my nailer backer boards. They all get finished nail to stud thru the sheet rock. The now finished crown gets cut and small nailed to backer board where needed according to where your wail has its little peaks and valleys. You then hit the nail/staple depression with good matching touch up sparkle product. Since holes are minimal and quite a distant up high you gotta look pretty hard to notice. This is a timely, easy application, easier adjustment to wall/ceiling irregularities, and not dependent on the available stud placement. Doubled production rate with excellent results and the paint is not done in the house rather at a control site. ,

Out West it was Purdy brand brushes. There are uses for throwaway brushes...for example, painting rough masonry or deeply textured walls...ya gotta throw them away when you're done because half of the bristles are gone or the entire brush is half the length it started out at. I recommend to anyone starting out in painting to check videos by pros. When I started 50 years ago I bought books because there was no online stuff. The General Contractor who hired me for my first job watched me for a few minutes and said "Why do you Painters always do it that way?" and walked away confident that I was a real Painter. I said nothing, but wow was I glad I read that cheap little book the night before.
