My Goodness looking back now on the Rita story line, I was only a kid when it was aired, didnt understand the depths of it but now I do and how well it was researched and played out, really feel for Rita in that situation, the acting was so close to the bone of reality, how the man always seems to switch the blame to the woman making her feel shes the one that caused it all. This can affect any woman in any situation, upper/lower/middle classes are not immune from this and the feelings the woman must hide- The anger/resentment and guilt because none of his friends ever saw him like that so therefore you must be to blame, when you do finally get out the amount of time it takes to get your inner confidence back is mind blowing. The writing/acting of this was spot on.

Sally Webster's guffawing sister, the rough and raucous Gina, must be the most unbearable character of 1988. Ten seconds of her on screen, and I'm pressing the 'mute' button. On the plus side, October '88 starts the six-month saga of the slow betrayal of Rita by cheating Alan Bradley. One of the best six months in the whole history of Corrie, and for me, he was a much more enjoyable villain than Richard Hillman, who came along about fourteen years later. Richard was far more sinister - a real psycho and killer, whereas Alan was more of an old-fashioned con man.

I won't watch any episodes of Corrie after 1999. It became ridiculous. The whole Richard Hillman storyline was over blown. And to be honest he should have killed Gail but sadly he failed lol.
