Your prediction is correct, by 30 March 2020 South Africa was sitting at 1368 confirmed cases and 3 deaths. I like your analysis because your prediction pointed to South Africa reaching a thousand mark by 1st of April but we reached a 1000 mark by 30th of March. Correctly predicted. How sweetheart. Have you seen Italy's state of the art ICU equipment? Our hospitals are in shambles. Going to hospitals now will be a death sentence. In Wuhan 60% of people died at home, 40% people died in hospital. The taxis will be the number one killer as their poor attempts to disinfectant are useless and in vain.

yep, we all know the "official cases" but you're not saying now many have been tested. About 80,000 with a population of 59 million. 2605 cases on 80k tested is 3.36% positive. if you apply 3.36% to 59 million people you get to 1,982,400 infected. Of course that's not the case, but certainly 80,000 tests are not significant for a nation of 59 million people, do you agree?

Thankyou for these helpful videos. Your recent video on the subject has the comment section not working. I listened to our President on what they are going to do. And best of luck to them. The people on the other hand have already decided what they are going to do. Nothing! So it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I read a news report about moving people out of locations when the virus gains a foot hold. How? And where to? With what? The main population groups are not isolating themselves because they can't. If what I read and listen to is correct, then we are going to have about 12,000,000 very sick people. The data on South Africa at the moment is very patchy. I think that they will extend the 3 weeks because they have no choice. Keep safe.

@SimoneZanetti
4 жыл бұрын
I didn't predict 1000 deaths, I said that IF South Africa follows the Italian curve, it would be 1000 deaths. But as I wrote in the video title and description, it's not a prediction, it's an analysis. There are other variables to consider like temperature, national average age, TB vaccinations. Etc. So far South Africa seems to be very resilient, which is fantastic. Time will tell the true tale.

Nico Thanks for the input. Which part of the video are you referring to. I started with the pure exponential, then I reduced the factor to 1.8x and finally I overlapped the Italian timeline to the future SA timeline (which is pure probability based on the factors that I described). In any events, all the studies I’ve seen show the beginning on the curve as exponential and it changes after the peak. I agree with you that it could be logistic in a scenario where nobody takes precaution (government nor citizens) until everybody is infected. But that’s not a realistic scenario. What do you think?

I think the message we should take from this is that the virus has already affected our lives. We should take what happens in other countrys serious. We should look at what failed and what worked and apply it to our lives. To put your head in the sand and pay no attention is foolish, ignorant and careless to the well being of others. As a country we are at war and the enemy does not discrimanate between rich or poor, race or sex. It is a time in our country where this is bigger than ourselves. We should protect the weak and the elderly. Let us not regret this later by saying I could have done more when we can make a diffrence now. In reality we don't know how many people are infected or have died we are unprepared if we compare ourselves to the rest of the world.. My concern is the poor communities. To say that they are not our concern is foolish. It is like saying to your hand that it is not part of your body. We are all South Africans and we need each other in this time there is no place for hate.
