This movie is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. My personal favorite Tim Burton movie. It was so deep and moving. Emily's sacrifice at the end was heroic and tragic as well but you can tell she was finally at peace. She allowed Victor to be with the woman he truly loved that he could have a life with and a family with. The ultimate sacrifice she made.
@swkmjlotr2367
7 жыл бұрын
I think that Victor definitely grew to love Emily. Of course, the most appealing ending would be for Emily and Victor to end up together, but that would not be practical or ideal. For Victor to offer giving up everything in his life for Emily, that was a huge sacrifice and a demonstration of love. Furthermore, when Emily walked down the aisle and gave her wedding vows, the look that Victor gave her was truly one indicative of love. So, I believe that Victor truly loved Emily, but that the ending with Victor x Victoria was most suitable. The lesson to be learned is that even if a person was robbed of happiness, he/she should not do the same to someone else. The best thing to do is move on and find peace, instead of dwelling in the past and building up pain.

Its because she really did love Victor. There was a deleted scene that explained how she knew his name and about his dog. She died 9 years before the movie's events and whenever Victor visited the woods throughout his life she saw him despite being buried. Over time she fell in love with him. Which is what makes the ending heart wrenching when she says " I love you Victor, but you're not mine." She still loved him even after moving on.

I dont think the ending is sad but it is bittersweet. You want Emily to have a happy ending all the while knowing Victor and Victoria are in love. I want them to be together because its obvious they love each other but they're both very likable characters. And I do see Victoria's rebelliousness and fear and concern so I cant help but caring and becoming invested in her, but at the same time I want Emily to find her happy ending and Victor does care about her and see her as a friend but she knows she cant get back what she lost and feels guilty about trying to take it away from someone else cuz Emily knows deep down hes supposed to be with Victor which is why she repents and finds peace. Victoria was another Emily in the making but Emily saved Victoria from having the same fate as her and in doing so was redeemed. Its honestly the perfect ending to a great movie.

I did not hate the ending. It was a beautiful film. Jst watched it yesterday on Nettflix. Having Victor and Emily together means killing Victor so he could go to the land of dead forever, killing him would jst be wrong on so many levels, e.g. immoral and illegal and if Emily loves Victor truly she wd want him to live his life and of course to live he wd need a nice and loving companion like Victoria. And Emily got her own (better) happy ending free of worldly and (deadly) sorrows and attachments, she got freed from the land of dead as well..tht is one happy ending.

I don't understand why people think he should have married Emily. He certainly did not love her. Throughout most of the movie Victor was horrified by Emily and only decided to marry her when Emily was on the verge of total despair .He didn't even seem to like her very much and only agreed to marry her b/c he felt sorry for her. Also, to be with Emily Victor would have had to commit suicide...which isn't cool. Victor's personality matched Victoria's, and he appeared to genuinely like, even love Victoria. Also in the end, in the butterfly scene, Emily, because she was willing to release Victor over to Victoria, was herself allowed to be released from what was in essence "hell" to heaven. So it all worked out. It was the right ending.

I think we're all forgetting that literally everyone would have been miserable if Victor and Emily got married. - Victor believes his first love has married someone else and essentially would have to commit suicide in order to be with Emily, leaving his entire life behind. The movie sets up that, although Victor DOES care for Emily, he loves Victoria. - Emily would undoubtedly feel guilty for allowing Victor to go through with this and, as we see in the movie, for taking him away from Victoria. - Victoria would be stuck in a loveless, arranged marriage to Lord Barkis, who would undoubtedly have murdered her not long after. - The Everglots would have gained NO money from Barkis marrying their daughter, meaning they would have gone to the poorhouse regardless. - The Van Dorts...well, they vanish 2/3rds of the way through the movie for some reason, so whatever. - Hell, even Lord Barkis would have gained no money from marrying Victoria, and he presumably would have been able to just kill Victoria and continue being an evil bastard. I also don't get why people seem to HATE Victoria in this comment section. Her worst crime is just that she's Victor's love and not Emily and she's...a little dull, I guess? But she's sweet, goes out of her way to try and save Victor, and never gives up on him. Victoria definitely gets too much shit.

I love this movie. When I was around 3 or 4 (and throughout my childhood), I remember when I would put in certain DVD movies in the DVD player and during the previews, it would show this movie trailer a lot. My favorite part of the previews would be seeing this movie trailer. Although not sure that’s good for a toddler to think when she’s only 3 or 4 years old.😂😂😂I probably should’ve waited till I was much older to watch this film since I didn’t have a grasp on the whole corpse thing since, you know, I was only 3 or 4 and didn’t really think or know about this stuff. But I will still say that even though the film did scare me and kind of made me feel grossed out at certain scenes, this movie is indeed a masterpiece. I don’t think anyone will EVER be able to replicate anything like this. It’s absolutely astounding. And my favorite scene in the whole movie will always be when the maggot first pops out of her eye. My favorite line from the movie was always, “Maggots! Hahahaha.”😂😂😂 I would walk around repeating the same thing. Although I’m pretty sure I would accidentally say the word “magnets” instead of “maggots” a lot, so I would often have to be corrected.😄😄😄Anyways, I love this film and nothing will ever replace it’s position in my heart. (Pun intended.😄😄😄). I💜You, Tim Burton!

I haven't really seen this movie, but by the looks of it, and from what I've heard, it deffinately seems worth watching. Such a shame that unimaginative things like Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games are so popular these days, yet well-thought-out, creative movies and storylines like these are left biting the dust... Oh, and one thing I've learned from past experiences: NEVER read a book by a female author made somewhere between 20th and 21st century or above.

xxblackkshadowxx That awkward moment when you realize it's not about necrophilia but about letting go and sacrificing who you love so they could be happy.

When I was little, The Nightmare Before Christmas was my favorite movie. So naturally, when I saw this trailer, I said to myself "OH MY GOD, THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE THE SHIT!"

People are asking why some think Victor should have ended up with Emily. I'm definitely on team victor/emily. Their relationship was developed more throughout the movie and they had more chemistry than victor and victoria did. Besides, Victor and Victoria's wedding was arranged and ending up together meant going back to their controlled, prisoner lives under their parents' constant watch. Being with Emily, with either Emily becoming human or Victor going to heaven with her would have been more romantic and assuring that victor ended up happy.

as a little kid I was always very sad and upset with the ending but I understand now "I love you victor but you are not mine" she was in a state of limbo and was there for a reason to find what she needed to let go in order to go to the higher place, to move on.
