A year later, does he still inspire and make you happy? Also: is the transition from active to passive mode really invisible, as the specification says? Are the pickups noisy/noisy? Is the instrument balanced, is the neck overweight? I look forward to your answers, thank you!
@stuballingerart

@@kotanel I still absolutely love it. I play it most days. The active/passive switch is just a push/pull pot and it's very smooth, so it's very easy once you get used to the motion. The pickups are only noisy if you absolutely crank the gain, which most pickups are anyway. The neck balances perfectly when played seated, which is what I do. I can't speak for strap balance while standing. For what it's worth, I also own a Dingwall, a far more "premium" guitar, and I play the Cort more.

Hi Marcelo! Thanks so much for responding to my question!! I appreciate it. I actually meant the thickness of the neck from the face fretboard to the back of the neck, like how it would feel between your left hand's fingers and thumb as you play. Perhaps I didn't word my original question clearly.

Assuming that this instrument is being played from factory, and not set up to an individual player's taste, I think it sounds very good. I like a dark bass, and this thing growls on its lower end. As said in the review, this is a MODERN take on a classic sound, and the B string sounds absolutely fine. Given my personal taste, the lowest string (on a 5 string) should be used with the kick drum: it SHOULD growl and punch your chest. Low B is not for fairy showdogs; it's down and dirty, just as it should be...

Great bass and a great review Marcelo. This one is right up my alley. I typically prefer darker basses and gravitate to rosewood necks because of this. My two main basses are a Fender Jazz American Standard and an Ibanez BTB1605. This bass seems be the love child of both. Since I am mostly a rock player and seldom slap, the shortcomings of this bass are not a factor for me. You didn’t mention price and availability in your review; two very important considerations.

Thank you! I don't mention price and availability because for one, its something that can be easily googled and found with minimal effort if someone is interested in the bass. Furthermore, there are people from all over the world that watch these videos (US, Canada, Europe, etc) , and prices/availability vary depending on your location.

Great format for the review; very comprehensive Marcelo! I've been building guitars and basses for 22yrs now, and this is a bass that I would consider buying depending on whether the control locations worked for me. I would say about measuring the scale though, the hook of your tape measure should be "this" side of the nut, not the headstock side (unless that was a visual illusion) plus you should measure from that point to the 12th fret and double the measurement. When saddles are intonated, they don't provide a fixed point of reference from when to derive a scale length as they lengthen the open string length slightly by moving backwards from the "minimum" intonation point. It's a bit confusing as the witness points on the saddles look further forward than what would be a minimum intonation point for a 35" bass, and way too far back for a 34" bass. Is it possible that the scale length is in fact metric? I've only heard of a few manufacturers that do this (including Ibanez) but it's worth consideration as it could be an 880mm scale, or 34,65".

Great demo to be fair. However this sounds extremely rough to me for a Jazz Bass. In fact to me it doesn't even sound like a Jazz. Not in comparison to a good old Fender or Squire J. Doesn't have that clarity and super sharp enunciation nor fullness I would want from a jazz bass. You're correct in saying it sounds darker. However as a bassist I wouldn't want this bass.
@TheBassWizard

I dont think the point was to sound exactly like a vintage jazz bass, but rather something different and modern. Its definitely not the best option for someone who is looking for a typical Jazz sound

@@TheBassWizard I can appreciate that much. The going price for this instrument I think is rather lofty. Taking into considering I have a Squire 70s Vintage Modified Jazz Bass that went for 370 brand new when I got it. Which to my ears sounds more akin to that classic Marcus Miller tone. That being said yes I concur with your statement. Cort definitely wanted to create a different type of jazz bass. I won't discount the fact this bass would work well depending on one's tonal preferences. Just isn't my taste. On that note I've enjoyed your videos these past 2 years. Learned a lot. For instance how to do a basic setup just to start. Look forward to more reviews in the future.

@@TheBassWizard thanks for the quick reply. Like in a lot of different industries, when going through the design stage etc, probably a good idea to get someone like yourself or similar experience to get imput from the people who actually play or use, whether it's a hammer, tennis racket etc before releasing it to the market. The knob placement could have been changed before release. Maybe they did get the feedback and ignored it. 👍
