Chevy attached that unit to the underside of the floor over the drivetrain. When I rebuilt mine I fabbed up steel straps to hold the unit in place independent of the floor. Then the owner can remove the floor pice and inspect/service the unit "In SITU" as the doctors say. LOve the channel!

Neat idea! This definitely seems to be one of the more difficult components to access otherwise.

No need for a cover over the blower motor. You really will not have an issue especially the way it is going to be used. I am not sure why someone did that. Nice job on the heater box, you will be happy for the heat in spring and fall driving.

Auto Anatomy used a Murray PM102 fan motor on his. Pretty much a drop in replacement. ;>

Even tho a metal heater box was built rugged, it wouldn't go unharmed. Around 1970 a lot of vehicles were installed with a factory fibreglass units that would crumble usually after years of use. You were pretty lucky with that one. Fibreglass is just too awkward for some to repair and usually the whole unit had to be replaced.

I believe the guy who restored this rampside had to buy three FC's to assemble one good heater box!
