Installed one of those trem stops in my strat in the late 80s. Works in reverse from the claw springs to stabilise tuning, so trem returns to pitch. Hipshot make them, but that one is from another manufacturer, but does the same thing. Took it off when locking tuners came on the scene, then returned to a traditional setup, angled the spring claw to compensate for string pull differentials (wound to plain difference) tweaked the friction points. . .tuning problems gone, for good !. Setting up a Strat with trem to play perfectly, takes a bit of time. I have 6 Strats and each one has its own thing going on tonally, and they are all beauts. I could get right into that, but it would take to much time. . Nice vid.

I have a couple of those trem setters. One was made by Hipshot, Fender actually had one that was probably made by Hipshot, and Floyd Rose makes one. By the way, there are springs with a coating on them, so you don’t have to tie anything around them to prevent those overtones. I used to put a patch of the fuzzy side of Velcro under my springs to eliminate that. Check with Sweetwater for those springs! Cory is right about the pickups- I used to use a Fender Lace Sensor Silver in the bridge and two “golds” in the other positions, it makes a big difference!

Is that a Hipshot Trem Setter on Don’s guitar?
@davidmultimedia2024
2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is (or other brand, but same thing... NOT to be confused with a Tremol-no). Also, the guitar will stay in tune better when you don't use the tremolo bar (similar to a fixed bridge). Should be part of every tremolo system IMO. I don't see any benefits of having the bridge reacting to string tension. What we need is spring tension only.

I doubt it cuz that would mean custom pickups, pickguard and bridge. Which will increase the price of the instrument.
@RitusG

Comparing zoomed in pictures of both it definitely looks like a non-standard pickgaurd. Comparing around the lower horn area this pickgaurd is actually further away from the edge of the guitar than a normal sized strat meaning it's been slightly reduced in size on the outer edges. The top upper screw that is right by the neck is almost direct center between the 19th and 20th fret on a regular strat where it's lined up right with the 20th fret on this model. This would not necessarily change the pickup hole size and bridge cutout size. Also, I don't think modifying a little bit of plastic is an issue with a $2000 guitar.
@HaShemMetal
2 жыл бұрын
If you look at the contours of the guard, you can see they are different than a standard strat pickguard. So I’d say it’s at least a modified shape if not a bit smaller. The bridge/pickups/routes could still be the same as a regular strat, it’s the outer bit that would change. The main area I’m referencing is the bit of guard behind the bottom tone control and extending towards the output Jack.
@Sagerydian
