Appreciate you going through the various ship types and recommendations for the next steps. Thanks for noting that some designs were "on the fly" and pausing to screenshot or note your points.

TY, when i was playing it and figuring stuff out i thought it would be nice to have a basic cookie cutter for progression at early stages and a goal for the end. So i made vid with ships i would have made if i knew what i knew now. As soon as you get to rail gun is just easy mode for kills.

Counter to railguns is shields AND flak cannons. I have a 4 railgun design ship that becomes ineffective against small-ish enemies with flak and shields combined. I guess I need to do another redesign because I'm starting to have trouble at lvl 10 and up systems I've been hording cash (up to 37 million at 4,170 Fame) and only have 2 ships; my railgun monster and a factory/cargo ship that just sits at stations and completes missions.

I made mine as fast as i could so i could out speed even small guys and keep range.. out ranging solves alot of problems until you get to the lvl 23 zones with those huge ships... Cuz they have bigger rail gun ships and more rail guns and defenses. But i was able to take some of them out.. very carefully and with extra time.

@@bigdaddykarvix43 I'm doing OK with small groups, but the Pirate Base battles and Renegade Packs are a problem when there are 4 or 5 medium sized ships. :)

I just out ranged them too lol... Slow going for sure but not hard just time consuming.

Have you considered sharing your "Shield S Start" series of ships, uploading to Steam workshop or Google Drive? I see many different Cosmoteer vids on things like starting out, ship building and design, ship progression, starter ships, etc.. However, it is rare to see a video that shares a link to their build or shares any of their ship publicly. (I've only found one vid that does this.) I'd think sharing on workshop would be a great way to gain publicity and followers, esp. if your workshop items have a link to your channel.

I never dabble in steam workshops, its seams it would be good for late game complex ships but not for my simple start ships. Their very easy to do and just for the very start of game to get a feel for how stuff works. Besides I'd be tempted to just copy some big end game ship design and that would ruin the rest of the game play. It would be a ok way to advertise but thats not my thing, i hate watching vids and first min is always like/sub me like some desperate insecure kid, and i also hate looking stuff up to see every comment and stuff with advertising their channel and not answering questions. I just watched a vid for a diff game i had a question on and guy goes off and says 'if your want to know how i did this watch my other vid' blaaa blaaa blaa, thats ok if its a complex thing that will take steps and directions, but this was simply 'find a junk ship and don't install the part' like wtf its less words then what he said. So ya its annoying when they tease you to watch a diff vid when the side part he mentioned is just worth 9 words. I knew that without watching already thankfully but to many do stuff like that and over advertise to the point were i'll remember their name so i don't click on their vids again and i don't want to be like that. :)

@@bigdaddykarvix43 I understand if it's not your thing. And I suppose it's easy enough for viewers to copy or be inspired by simple start ships. However, the nice thing about ship files is that, AFAIK, it should include the cargo and crew allocation, which saves time and headaches. I noticed that you did cover the crew management of your RailGun 1 design near the end of the video. (And you mentioned having a dedicated cargo for ammo.) However, you did not show viewers the cargo or crew management setup for the other ships you showed off: Shield S Start 2, Shield S Start lvl 2, Railgun 2.

It was not needed cuz they are so small, and i did mention that their pathways where all green, at least i think i did. They didn't use amo, well power as amo i guess for the longer ranged lasers. Just a nice simple build with the resources you start with to max efficiency and speed and long range weapons to make first kills easier while not making it complicated. Ya someone tried to give me flax for not having hall ways, crying about the 50% mov speed threw rooms. I guess he didn't understand as long as the crews pathways are green then their working at max efficiency and in small ships like that it was easy to set up.

erm, corridors? your crew is inefficient as they are only running at 50% with no corridors, oh and way too many reactors

Its only a guide line for people to get started, as long as pathways are green its fine and smaller space is less mass so faster ship.. Theirs plenty of reason for and against and its nice to have power sources near to were their needed and provide more targets. Remember this is just for the first 30 min of play or so for new people to get the hang of adding parts to ships, its not for later with huge ships and layered armor and shield stacking with 4+ ten long rail guns and 10 nuke launchers and stuff. Theirs lots of vids of those ships and stuff and crew sectioned off with roles set and locked in.

You should use at least a few corridors, as well as putting some presentation into your ships. As of now, they're just ugly space bricks that are hell to navigate for crew.

Ya that kinda stuff is for later on.. Cheap easy fictional.. Crew is all in the green so no corridors needed. Smaller and faster.. So no, its not hell for crew at all, the hole game is ugly bricks. IE easiest and very effective way to get past the first few hours to collect real loot to make big ships.
