Honestly, despite everything: flood, bad traffic, bad AQI, few crazy drivers, confusing urban planning, so on and so forth..... living in Jakarta has been both a blessing and a curse for me (but more blessing) because you can enjoy literally everything, even only with your eyes. Skyscrapers & slums, 5 stars resto & hawkers, luxury cars & ojek, to high end malls & traditional markets. Jakarta has so much good things to offer but at the same time, a tough place to live and survive. My desire to live outside of the country is still huge but when that day finally come, Jakarta will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for making this video, Kristian! I live in small city in east java , and there is a russian who live there and making family, that place more natural than big city, no polution , many have beautiful scenery of nature ( mount, river, woods ), but not a primitive place, be cause there still infrastructures and technology that support life.

Well said “you can’t come to a new country and expect them to live exactly the same way as you did in your own country” but do you know what I wish as Indonesian who lives in Sweden, I wish Swedes or Scandinavians people can be warm and friendly to each other. Not cold. I come from a country where the sun shines the whole year. With people who always smile and grateful no matter what 🇮🇩 And you know what, as a foreigner as a stranger in a new country. A simple smile or a simple friendly gesture means a lot ♥️ Held og lykke i Indonesien Kris 😎

hi bro, I hope you try to explore South Banten, (South coast of Banten, Ujung Kulon and the Baduy tribe and many more that I know) Banten province. there are many things that are very special and for sure you've never seen them. and there are still many secret places that people rarely visit. Tq

Hi bro, thanks a lot for watching and for your comment/ideas. Actually I have already planned🙂🙏 to go to Baduy, hopefully in 2 weeks! I find it very interesting and would like to explore it. Exactly like you mentioned, I want to go to some of the more "rare" places that is not the most popular, but a bit more unexplored. If you have any more recommendations, I would appriciate it. Feel free to let me know anytime

Baduy? Im not sure that expatriate can visit there(especially white), for my understanding, baduy tribe is still upholding the custom of the ancestors not to allow white people to visit, it does not mean racist, but the rule has existed since the time of colonialism.

Lots of Indonesian company would pay a crazy high salary for expatriates just because they're well.. Non Indonesian. Even when the locals have the same capabilities. A sad fact that applies in most post-colonial countries.

Instead of feeling bad about, turn it around and use it as motivation to work harder and earn more! This what I do, when I look at people who earn a lot more money than myself. I think "what is working for them, and how can I try and use some of that to my advantage". Trust me I have not always had a good salary, but I have worked my way up. I believe that anyone can work their way up, if they really really want it! It's all a question about how hard you are willing to work for it. For example, I live 10.000 km away from my family in order to earn and save more. That makes me cry sometimes. But that is one of the things I have to do to get ahead. I hope you got some motivation out of this. Feel free to ask me any questions you would like. I'm always here to help. - Kris :-)
