Also Vienna is beautiful, safe. Walkable, and though the Viennese are snooty, they're much nicer than those assholes in Seattle

The biggest difference is not a monetary one imho. Vienna is full of culture and history to the brim. Seattle is just houses and a few sky scrapers - nothing there. Hollow and dead.

For those who think the 0 healthcare cost is accurate, it's not really, it's just that it's included in taxes paid. Healthcare plans aren't free here, they're simply mandatory so the govt takes the money out of your salary automatically and you can't choose insurance. You only get the state one.

And they STILL end up paying less overall.

That’s incorrect. You can always be privately insured, if you are self employed, your job offers it as a benefit, or you have money, travel often, etc You aren’t forced to have state healthcare.

@@pb6839 Only self employed people can opt out. No one else can. Everyone else is forced to have the state insurance. You can get private insurance too, sure, but you still have to pay the state one too, so who the fuck can afford it? The very wealthy only.

@@BKIslandersfan Just in the past 5 years my mandatory state health insurance would've cost me almost 30k dollars. And I wasn't making a lot of money either. So it's only cheaper to the extent that it's of lesser quality.

@@muresandani 3.1 Million Austrians are privately insured. That is close to 1/3 of the population. The employer will normally offer a private insurance as a benefit which covers stuff regular health insurance doesn't like dentist visits, eye glasses etc.

Vienna > Seattle, my mom knows of the Seattle area (for work) and king county is horrific to deal with in general. Many better cities in the US that are cheaper and better to live in. Vienna is ran by people who care about Vienna, can't say that for mayors of big US cities.

If it's anything like the rest of central/western Europe it's decent but not as good as the US. Much cheaper though.
