Happy for you . I tried to live in a rural/village near Roi Et. and Phitsanulok . Being retired from America it was very hard to adapt for me for a lot of reasons. However, I did fall in love to the Nan area . Perhaps because of the cooler weather and beautiful mountains.

I have an income idea for you. You know that Thais love petting farms. You have quite a complete and beautiful setting as far as farm life is concerned. With a little improvement on aesthetics and convenience (i.e. welcome drinks, food testing, etc.) for customers, you could potentially draw in Thai customers to tour your farm, which should theoretically include your beautiful traditional Thai house. Of course you would need some time, investment funds, and a lot of low cost marketing to get to Thai customers. I know you probably have seen many petting and similar farms around Thailand already, and I hope you seriously consider such a project. A good addition would be for customers to have a try of traditional Thai food common to rural Thailand in your area. What do you think of this idea? This project does require you to get Thais more acquainted with your channel to build excitement sort to say about getting to know your family, farm, rural setting, and region of the country.
Cost wise. I am similar. And this is not living frugally. I live in Ranong.Less than 40,000thb per month.( I earn far more than this. But this is above average monthly cost) Grow food and have fish that are sold. All good.

nice video Ryan, i actually thought before the video you would have been at the lower end that you mentioned but when you are footing all of the costs for some elements its easy to see it creep up. i guess the big cost that is missing for you that wouldn't be the case for others is rent / mortgage or equivalent There are also other things like insurance and health insurance that i think anyone moving over to live out life may want to consider too. I have also heard of donations being required for the school is the case with Otis' school too and clothing wasn't factored in which with my ever expanding fat ass i would need to factor in a new parachute every month or so no suggestions from me, keep the same content coming and i will be happy

I'm Thai living aboard many years now..i miss my country so much, i would love to live in countryside in south of Thailand as my family is there. Hopefully 50-60k in Phuket-Phang Nga would be enough😂 after we retire. I love street foods and i don't drink, it should save a lot of cost..well, but the problem is my French husband who likes to drink wine instead of water!😒 So wasting of money! We need to plan costs if we'll move back there in the future. God bless you and lovely family❤

Hello Ryan, great listing of your expenses. Lazada has good 5 stage reversed osmosis systems to make your drinking water from your well. I would not so much be opposed to the classic "Windel" instead of nappies. You should connect your washing machine output to the septic tank and direct its output to your garden plants or important trees. The same for your kitchen sink. The plants will say thank you especially in the dry season. You mentioned that you would like to install solar panels for your electricity. Check your budget first. My experience with lead acid type batteries are that they do not like so much the heat. Our deep cycle batteries got stolen unfortunately when we were not on the farm. Today, I want to upgrade the system with LiPoFe batteries. You get cheap ones from China sold in Thailand, but it is difficult to get full specs of them especially to know if they have cell equalizer or not for BMS (battery management system). I was thinking about looking for used electric car battery, there should be a 2nd hand market for them soon. This needs some work as you have to test all cells to take out the dead one(s) and reconfigure the rest, but you may get a great storage capacity this way much cheaper (hopefully). As I said, this is still in the idea phase and needs some research where to find used electric car batteries in Thailand and for what price. Using solar cells also changes the way you live. You will run your washing machine during the day, do all cooking during the hot sunny part of the day to minimise the amount of energy you need to store for over night use. A programable rice cooker and a slow cooker are good for this. I realised you have induction hobs which is a good step to minimise the energy needed to cook too. I wish you all the best with your plans and I will watch what you do.

We have solar panels and it is amazing. If you could afford the most up to date batteries then you would have no electricity bill but it would be a big layout initially. Not sure if Thailand would pay you to add electricity to their grid? It might take many years to 'pay it back' in savings but you get so much joy from 'doing your bit for the planet' that it doesn't really matter.

Really entertaining video, interesting, informative, nice to see someone living modestly while appreciating and valuing what they have. We have lost a lot of that in the UK. My Thai girlfriend has a rice farm near Udon Thani with a similar set up to yours. Except we have, 7 or 8 dogs that have moved in from the village, 2 cats, some chickens(we don't eat meat)they just run around make a noise and sometimes lay eggs...:-) grow fruit, veg, coconuts mangos etc. Village broadcasting system, sometimes they play some nice music. So l was interested to see your expenses and compare. l am happy to report mine are somewhat less........:-)
