You should get rid of all the cardboard boxes so you don’t end up with roaches on the boat.
@WanderingKnapps

Yea, we know. Got rid of most of the cardboard. The kids mac and cheese is the worst. Couldn't bring my self to repackage all of those. The Cats bring us a cockroach about once a month, I think we had some that came with the boat too.

I use to work on ships that would go out for three months at a time. You can line the floor with #10 cans the cover them with broken down cardboard boxes. Walk on the cans till you eat your stores down enough to make room for them. Ah the good old days.
@WanderingKnapps

Oh I like that idea. We may do that the next time we head out.

@@WanderingKnapps You can do it in the boys room or in a storage locker or something. The ship I was on did it in the workout room. 25 guys eat a lot of food in three months at sea.

This gives me as a retired pastor a boost in my life to be praying for you. If you have specific needs in prayer please please get in touch with me and I will add it to my prayer list. You might consider getting and using a crab trap or two, so that you and your family can enjoy fresh seafood daily. I used one when I lived on the Chesapeake aboard my 47-foot power cruiser. My sailor-companion would toss in a couple of chicken parts in a crab trap every morning, had the crab traps attached to a line attached to one of the cleats, would toss the crab trapvinto the water, and then hoist it up every evening. We never knew what we were going to get--but we always got a good amount and variety of fresh fish, crab, shrimp, etc. So we would clean 'em, rinse 'em, filet the fish, fry 'em, steam 'em, broil 'em, grill 'em--and simply enjoyed fresh (and free) seafood whenever we wanted it! You can order crab traps online--and some hardware stores carry them. Check 'em out--and you may want to do a video on the subject! In the meantime, keep on cruising and enjoying your journey (and some fresh seafood). Also you can use a hand-held net to hunt and collect crabs off of pylons. That is a fun-type activity--and another source for fresh seafood! And Tiger and Cheddar may also benefit from this!

Hi folks, just my opinion and many others, 35 years as motor yacht captain. Cardboard isnt the way to use on a boat. Bugs bugs. Watch the weather hurricane season for at least another month and a half. Bahamas are beautiful but can get ugly quickly. Be safe

Hi! Why is it necessary to provision for such a long period of time if it didn’t take that long to get to a destination. I can definitely see things like cat food, paper products and toiletries but couldn’t you get your food at whatever island you’re on? What if we don’t eat a lot of processed/packaged food?
@WanderingKnapps

We provisioned for the unknown. We did not know what was going to be available due to Covid. It is also just so much cheaper to stock up in the states so it will stretch the funds too. Keep watching and I am sure we will talk about what is available at the markets in the Bahamas! Make sure and catch us LIVE on Friday at 8:30pm Eastern Time. We will talk a bit more about the generator and what its like in the Bahamas with Covid. Thanks for watching!

Awesome stuff! Question - is weight of provisions ever something to really consider? Or is it negligible, considering the size of the boat?
@WanderingKnapps
3 жыл бұрын
On some boats it is a big deal. The larger the boat the less it is. I can tell when we have full fuel, water and provisions for months of cruising. I think our boat handles best when fully loaded, it just feels solid. Thanks for watching! Enjoy the Journey!
