#CostaRica
Caño Negro is one of the most biodiverse Nature reserves in Costa Rica. Crocodiles, monkeys, tapirs and even jaguars are found here.
The particularity of Caño Negro is its vast wetlands, where the water level can rise up to 3 meters in the rainy season.
During the dry season, the water retires, leaving rich pastures for livestock and swampy lagoons that are a veritable paradise for sedentary and migratory birds.
Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge counts: 315 bird species, such as Belted Kingfisher, Great Blue Heron and Golden winged warbler, 160 mammal species, 49 fish species including Tarpon cichlid, sea bass and tropical gar, 310 plant species.
