Coturnix Quail for beginners | The mating calls and sounds the males make
Some common questions to consider before raising Quail are:
Are Coturnix Quail too loud for my neighborhood?
Are Quail annoying to raise?
How do I know which ones are male?
Males can be tricky to identify by color alone. Sound is the easiest way to figure out how many male quail you have. Often, the crows and calls are during specific times of days - mine are more active in the early morning and in the evening.
If more than one male is in the coop, they often will create a chain of calls - which can be excessive.
Overall though, quail are relatively quiet and if raised with some good sound absorbing acoustics built in the coop, they can be quiet enough to raise in your neighborhood.
These quail are raised in a regenerative farm setting - so their coop isn't designed to absorb sound. But their voices don't travel too far!
