I love you guys. What you have done to this boat is amazing. I saw it when you left the dock where you were kicked out and she was dying. I hope you go back and show her off to the people that kicked you out. You guys have an amazing boat. You have never stopped working hard on this project. And the fact you are trying to use higher end products is testament to this being your home and not just some hobby.

To restore teak, once partially sanded, try using Oxalic Acid crystals. I use an 8 to 1 solution of Water to Acid let soak for not more than 30 min then rinse with an 8 to 1 solution of Water to baking soda and let dry over night. Sand lightly and do it again if required. I'm sure some products claim to do more. What tartan (Scottish Clans) are the old interior cushions?

Hey Sierra. We've had our Pacific Trawler 37 for 40 years. It was built in 1976 in Costa Mesa, CA. It has a LOT of teak, both inside and out. I have tried everything known to man over years to clean, treat, and finish both the interior and exterior teak. On the exterior teak exposed to weathering, REGARDLESS OF WHICH PRODUCT WE USED, we found that diluting in 5:1 or even 10:1 made it work better, especially in terms of the soundness of the teak over many years. Most of the products are excessively strong because most customers are lazy and want to clean the teak with minimal effort. That isn't good for the teak. In factmany products tend to damage the teak if used at full strength. I prefer to go over our teak two or even three times with a less caustic mix of cleaner and water: same for the "brightener" and water. It IS more work. But over the years our teak has held up physically much better than what we see on other boats. Of course it is the old growth Burmese teak that simply can't be found anymore.

Nice work ... just couple of comments from a retired surveyor (and boat restoration affectionado!) ... as far as value - ensure that the hull is stable as far as voids, high moisture, or internal damage (ie: bad engine beds, compromised bulkheads, etc + maybe get ahold of a moisture meter to "map" the hull, deck and house) - then, how modernized are the systems and major components? (ie: saw you replaced through hulls and such - but major piping, bonding system, upgraded electrical runs, etc as well as newer equipment when it can be afforded - no to mention all the love and care on the engines and their supporting systems like the fuel tanks) ... finally, an impartial appraisal perhaps using SoldBoats and/or BucValue to get a baseline on what the boats can command. Many times, I saw folk throw a ton of money at the topsides and rig of a boat ... only to find out they had bad keel bolts or compromised chainplates and such. All the best - - - forgot the age and design of the boat ... happy to give you some baseline info if you like. Don't forget to enjoy life!!! All the best
