I don't think VHS will ever make a comeback. The video quality is just too poor for today's standards, and the inconvenience and fragile nature of tape is something no one wants to go back to. Vinyl is more collectable and can still sound good with the appropriate equipment. D-VHS has a higher storage capacity and is capable of high definition, but nobody wanted it when it was on the market. We've done moved on from tape. I still have an interest in tape myself, but only as a hobby. I never expect it to capture the interest of the general public again.

If someone starts selling cheap new Vcr's, Vhs will return.

The reason why vhs 📼 would not make a comeback is simple. Vhs if you remember how vhs 📼 would break or wear out after watching a movie 🎥 alot. So vhs 📼 has really no chance making any come back bc of how easy they break or wear out. But laser disk has a better chance to make a come back

Half of my video library is vhs and the other half is regular dvds. I prefer both more than the new stuff. Apparently quality is subjective

Totally down with a resurgence in VHS and VCR as I was a part of the last generation to experience VHS use (born in ‘03), but as a vinyl record enthusiast, I think it's best to upgrade from that Crosley as they are deemed harmful to your records.

No. VHS tapes have no redeeming qualities over streaming, DVDs or Blu-Rays. VHS doesn't provide portability like cassette tapes do. DVDs and Blu-Rays provide superior video and audio quality. Same with LPs. LPs are becoming popular again because they still provide great audio. With the transition to Digital TV in the USA, VCRs don't even provide the ability to record TV any longer as they are still analog. VHS will continue to die. There will be no resurgence.

The issue is that no company is making VCRs anymore. And those are more complicated than a simple Turntable record player.

you're wrong comparing the VHS to 10GO. It's raw data, for sound and video, the sound is impossible to reach into digital but you should be close to with a 768Khz PCM, which for 4 hour , is more than 10Go, then it is uncompressed 50/60FPS with pal/ntsc signal which again if you just pick up at a 1TVL/1pixel which is the worst case would give something near 300GB for 1 hour at 720*576/480/50/60FPS! This said the round (threshold where line are round, not aliased, because VHS is round) is a factor from 4x to 16x 720*576/480/50/60Fps! I let you do the calcul but a 4x factor with 768khz sound, uncompressed raw data will blow your actual storage before you reach the 4hours! Yes analog isn't 4K, but even 240tvl give you smooth and not aliased edge! The proof is that current scaler can give a picture as sharp as the the scaler can do (4k), however the details specially the text would difficulty goes beyond HD Quality without adding IA! However if you can try a 3*12bit 4k scaler you should have something not only very watchable, but exceptionally engaging as raw picture by frame! There are lot of ia demo here reaching astonishing qual, but i prefer something in between (4k edge+ hd ready/HD texture inner details) in real time in order to watch them directly trough the vcr and the digital panel! Using both vhs and scaler on digital panel (or for the most lucky tritube HD CRT device), with today recording you have the most ecological format of all time and this with the best possible 5.1 analog sound! This sais compagnies earn much more money duplicating file into plastic physical digital storage and selling them 10X the effective cost!!!

VHS hi-fi has already made a comeback in Audio circles because it's better than reel to reel. The video is objectively trash however so a revival of movies seems unlikely.

Probably not, one of the main reasons is I don’t think any company manufactures VCR anymore. Also, there is the quality VHS is by far the lowest quality to watch any movie and not the way the director intended you to watch it. Then you have streaming which is the main way people consume movies now which unfortunately is better than VHF by far. Then you have the superior way to watch movies on a Blu-ray or even better a 4K Blu-ray. I don’t think physical media will ever go away, but I do not see a world with VHS makes a comeback. As somebody that truly enjoys movies and I like to collect all the movies that I like going forward, I only buy 4K blue rays unless there is no 4K option then I settle for standard Blu-ray. There is NO way I would ever consider buying a VHS. The problem with hipsters collecting VHS tapes is there not truly passion about it therefore, it’s not gonna stick, if they was passionate about movies they’d be buying the best way to watch them.

Don’t forget there was a thing called “Tape Trading” in the 80’s and 90’s with wrestling fans doing tape trading with other fans thru correspondence thru newsletters online , telephone , wrestling magazine . Where they tape trade all across the nation and outside the country by different means for wrestling in Mexico across the country , Europe and Japan and Canada. And not only that we record and put on timer our favorite shows , movies and events we want to see while we’re not home

VHS is most likely not going to make a come back. And I say this bc I grew up during the VHS era & I bought VHS movies from 1989 to 1997 and i own close to 400 vhs movies i had bought. And in 1997 i started buying dvds when they came out on the market. But like I said VHS is highly unlikely to make a comeback. I would say laser disk has a better chance to make a comeback before VHS would. Bc I don't think people now have the patience to sit there and rewind a VHS tape when they are done watching a VHS tape. And on top of that the picture quality of a VHS tape would not look good on the TVs that are out now. Like I said laser disk has a better chance to make a comeback before VHS does. And on top of that I am pretty sure all the major studios would not go back and start releasing there films on VHS again. Bc it would cost more to put a movie on VHS then on a DVD or a bluray . And I was a big fan of VHS during the VHS era but I don't see VHS having a comeback but if anything has a chance of a comeback it would most likely be laser disk
