Sheikh Halis (Abu Hanzala) answer the question ''Could you explain the matter of name and adjective?''
He tells that the matter of name and adjective is within the scope of believing Allah, the unseen and the mind has no place in the issues of unseen.
The matter of name and adjective is that:
Allah described himself with some adjectives and names in Quran to his servants. A muslim have to know this, believing in Allah is in the cope of believing in the unseen and Mind has no place in the matters of unseen. there is only surrender. The matter is only surrendering to provisions that Allah revealed.
It is impossible that you can see him with your eyes while you believe, know your Lord. and it is also impossible that those who saw Allah inform about him.
What is the remaining thing?
You must believe only bases with which Allah described himself and you must surrender them as they are.
With the statement of salaf, I am saying: ''We describe Allah as he described himself, and believe him in the way that he introduced himself.''
Why? Because Allah is the unseen and the unseen can not be know with mind.
As you know, there is a unseen world. For example, when I tell you something long, if I understand you don't comprehend it, I can say that: Look, do you see the tree there? It is also long as that tree is long. We can know something that we don't know by comparing it something we know, But Because this is not possible for Allah, the lord of whole universe, We can not compare him to something, We can equate him with nothing. For this reason, there is only one way. Believing what Allah told, Knowing and introducing him to people in the way he introduced himself.
In the period of sahaba, Allah revealed many verses. For example, like the verse we read in the interview;
The hand of Allah is over their hands. (48/Fath, 10)
then established Himself above the Throne. (7/A'raf, 54)
He who [holds authority] in the heaven (97/Mulk, 16)
No sahaba asked, O messenger of Allah, is not Allah placelessness and timeless?
How can the verse tell ' He who in the heaven''?
They only believed and surrendered it.
Because when we say,
There is nothing like unto Him (42/Shuraa, 11) and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (42/Shuraa, 11) If we don't say that Allah hears and we hear, this resembles ours, let's change its meaning, Hearing of Allah befits his own dignity, He can hear every voice in a way that he can respond and without confusing them. And we can only limited voices, When there are two or more voices, if we say we can hear them without understanding anything Allah is the most exalted. To the contrary, The hand of Allah befits his own dignity. The fact that he is in the heaven befits his own dignity. Meanly, when I accept that Allah can see, that doesn't mean I say his seeing is like ours. When I accept his hearing, hand, eyes, being in the heaven, establishing above the throne, likewise, that doesn't mean I say Allah is like us. That is, resemblance of words doesn't necessitate the resemblance of truths
For this reason, without changing or canceling or comparing the meaning, We believe and know Allah as he described himself This is our faith about Allah's Names and Adjectives
This is our faith about Allah's Names and Adjectives
To us, people of tajzim are astray too
To us, people who compare the adjectives to somethings are astray too.
To us, People of Ta'til who don't accept the adjectives of Allah and cancel them are astray too.
Therefore, because they are avoiding from tashbih, people of tawil says they are doing this because they don't want to compare to his servants But whether they accept it or not, first they fall into tashbih, then they fall into tawil.
