I hiked a long way to ski crappy snow. I was anxious for some exercise so I thought a hike and a ski would do the trick. Council Mountain is located in the Payette National Forest and measures at 8,126 feet. You can see it from highway 55 driving through Valley County, ID. I had never been there before, and since the roads were clear I thought it would be an opportunity to hike to the peak to be able to ski down with what little snow we have. The hike took me a long time, from where I parked I think I hiked something like 11-12 miles round trip. I don't know how much elevation gain I hiked. The scenes were really pretty once you got to Granite Basin. I did see some good lines that I would like to come back to and explore.
