Super autre chose que certains orchestres contemporains se disant dans le coup. Dans le coup de rien. Exempté le groupe.Indochine

That is "Moten Swing" when Bill Hughes, a Basie veteran, led the band. I don't know the year. And one of the great drummers / soloists Butch Miles in attendance. Scotty Barnhart, the current Basie Band leader took the trumpet solo. Basie wrote all or part of the song for the Bennie Moten Band, the Kansas City band that he joined as an arranger and back up pianist. (Bennie Moten was a pianist.) Long story short, Basie took over the band, got arrangements, John Hammond found him - check Wikipedia it is accurate - "was instrumental in sparking or furthering numerous musical careers, including those of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Charlie Christian, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Teddy Wilson, Big Joe Turner, Pete Seeger, Babatunde Olatunji, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Freddie Green, Leonard Cohen, Arthur Russell, Jim Copp, Asha Puthli and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is also largely responsible for the revival of delta blues artist Robert Johnson's music." A page of the American Songbook. Hell of a rendition of "Moten Swing."

Moten Swing, by Can't-Be-Basie. THIS IS A QUIZ: Spot what's wrong here. I'll give you a hint: start counting the microphones, and if there are more than three...Bingo. AND THAT AIN'T ALL! Switching to electric guitar is fine if your only over-riding goal is to hear it all the time. Trouble is, the real goal is to feel it - for both the player and the rest of the band - and if it is an electric guitar, it has no dynamics by its very nature, and therefore neither does the Band have any dynamics. Do you think Freddie Green set his internal Volume Control on SIX and left it there all night? This is made so much worse by putting a microphone in front of every instrument and introducing the meddling of some guy at the sound board. The real Basie Band was a glorious, naturally self-balancing groove to listen to, dance to, and move to, and no sound guy with 2-3 microphones on stage could screw that up.
