The Ahsoka episodes were fine but underwhelming by comparison. Practice makes Perfect was the only one I thought was really great. Dooku is underrated. My favorite Sith Lord by a country mile. He didn’t become a sith because he was corrupted by the power of the dark side or manipulated/seduced by a Sith Lord to change sides. He simply was tired of the corruption of the republic as well as the Jedis blind eye towards serving a corrupt system that was clearly using them for personal gain. He joined the Sith because he thought it was the only way to change the system. Dooku didn’t fall to the dark side, he chose it. And not for the power of the dark side, but rather for the ideals of the Sith. And though he did suffer through anguish of turning on his friends, and anger towards the Jedi order, he never let his emotions guide him deeper down the path of the darkness. He kept true to his own nature and ideals. That’s why he didn’t show any dark side corruption like with other Sith. He was a true boss character.
@theblueraven764
Жыл бұрын
That may have been the case innitially, but by the time of AoTC he had definitely gotten his vision and desires twisted by the Dark side, and was corrupted by it. All the books I've read on him have been very clear on that, and they are canon. That said, he definitely immersed himself in the dark side less than other users, and continued to fight in a calm and collected manner rather than the sheer rage that sith usually use. So he was certainly different to other sith. Probably because he still believed his vision was right, despite how deformed it had become in the end. He's a very tragic character to say the least. And definitely a failure of the Jedi and the Republic.

Something I thought of while watching this was a quote from Kreia, "To believe in an ideal, is to be willing to betray it" and while this is of course open to interpretation, I think it fits Dooku's situation quite well. As a Jedi he was there to protect the people of the Republic, and he began to see the failings of the Jedi, their blind adherence to the senate, the unchanging ways of the Council. He clung to his ideal, and so he betrayed the Council, the Jedi for a greater goal, and took on the mantle of Darth Tyranus. He changed because of this, but still held to the core of his ideal until his death

I believe Dooku is one of the best written characters to go from Jedi to Sith. Everything about him, from upbringing, mindset, philosophy, his ideals as a Master to QuiGon, and even his thoughts as a Sith, they all make sense. When you meet Dooku, for the first time you are confused, we like the character, and we understand why he is doing what he is doing. He is the first Sith that made sense to me, every other Sith was tainted by some emotion, some trauma, some darkness you just couldnt relate to. But then you have Dooku's sense of justice, his view of order, or discipline, a driving idealism that cannot bend or compromise. His death is a surprise, and a brilliant move from Palpatine. Nobody is able to defeat him, not in a fight, less in an intellectual battle. Only Anakin, and that he did only because he was drunk on emotion. Dooku knew he was not supposed to die, nothing was gained by it. He thought his ideals were set on the right things. Palpatine's brilliant move outstripped everything Dooku meant and fought for and signified in one fell swoop.

Dooku was a walking spoiler...Greek irony. The ultimate protagonists the Jedi Council were brought down not by the Sith, but by their own hubris. Anakin brought balance to the force by eliminating two dogmatic orders who were parasitic to the Force. Dooku had a sense of justice that Nietzsche warned about. Dooku stared too long into the abyss while fighting the injustice of the galaxy and the abyss claimed his soul. There is a lot to learn from this great fictional character. But even for a short it felt too dragged out with the same scene happening over and over, her doing a bit better and Anakin saying to do it again. The last episode had a very slow pace and it was a built up to a fight that was over in 5seconds. I get that she's powerful but they didn't need to make her oponent so weak. The fight that ended Mauls life was perfect for being short because of the reasons for it. But Ahsoka vs Inquisitor could have at least been a bit longer

The problem is - the system was good (better than others like Sith Empires, that's for sure), it was just full of awful people in charge and Jedi who thought their job is to deal with criminals, terrorists and warmongers who choose violence. A corruption in the Senate - not a case for them, because that's the job of polititians with no Force powers who care to fix the problem.
