Absolutely... the original is SO awesome, as is every song from that album. Have you ever heard the 1989 version of "Round Here" done by Adam's previous band? It's on here somewhere. It's HEAVY compared to the August version.

I met him in June/July of 93 n we hung out. He showed me his lyric journal. He asked me out n i declined cause i had a boyfriend.. Who ended up cheating on me. 😪 His songs resonate with me so hard... I think about a hill i grew up on that i told him about.. Walking up on the hilltop n looking out n seeing for miles. I told him that it was one my favorite places. I had a picture of my dad on my dresser n i remember telling him i loved my dad n he was a cool dad. I told him 'he looks like Elvis huh!' 'I think he is handsome' Then i told him i wanted to be a dancer... I did not connect as to how my dad would feel about that. I just wanted to draw pictures with him. There was a band my gf knew of called Show n Tell. I wanted to draw the cover art for it. I had gone to Ocean City Artstore there by the beach n this was where i met him. I asked him if he wanted to draw with me. He just seemed like a cool dude. A cool cat if you will. So he obliged n we went walkin on by the beach to go draw. He left n came back with his journal. I liked it. I remember a satellite dish drawing he had in it. His music would be broadcasted all over the globe. He told me about his band Counting Crows. I often wonder what would have happened had i gone with him n left my cheating boyfriend behind. 'All your life is just a dream dream dream' I couldnt believe it when i saw him on tv in the Mr Jones video. I screamed! 'I know him!'😍 I was only 18 when i met him at the end of June 1993 right after i graduated highschool. I declined a date with him but thought he was one of the coolest nicest n intrinsic guys i have ever met. He used his lyric journal as the album cover and he titled it 'August and Everything After' Like an 'i will show you' is what i think. Well he sure did. He very much did. He did an amazing Show n Tell. I would love to get to talk to him again.

This was always so nice that they would play their songs live completely different and with other songs mixed in by themselves or other artists. That was one thing that made them really unique. I remember the "Recovering the Satellites" tour and in the middle of one of their songs they played Thunder Road and I was one of the few people singing along. A magic moment.

Just found this. The Counting Crows aren't my favorite band but I love his passion and I like their music. Look at videos on KZitem and most artist are just following choreographed moves, concert after concert. It looks a little fake. I'll take a chance and see a great show like this. Emotion in the moment. You go where the music takes you!!! Just watch his version the "Rain King/Thunder Road"" from Pawtucket. It's a roll of the dice and that's what music is all about. This video just changed my whole mood today.
