Lesotho is the country with the most s****** rates, not South Korea. But there's nothing special or iconic about Lesotho, right? That's why no one cares about that country. The pressure to be special, to stand out, to be iconic is way too overwhelming. That's why South Korea still has one of the highest s****** rates.

Notice how Poland was even more schocked than USA about South Korea aproach to education, in Poland passing grade is from only 30% when in SK it's often over 50%.
@syniasynia6736
4 сағат бұрын
It all depends. I live in Poland and in my school, you had to have more than 39% to pass. And later at the universities it's like 50% or 60% to pass (I am not sure which)
@Darwidx
4 сағат бұрын
@@syniasynia6736 It's 50% because there is no 1st grade, so 2nd grade as lowest just didn't count and 3rd grade start from 50%, some "middle (high) schools" have hugher than 30% required to pass, but if it's not regulated by Oświata or some technician specification it's capped on 50%, it's a sign your school try to be a higher quality than what a country regulate.

In reality, flags of Poland and Indonesia are the same, just upside down from one another. Same colours and dimensions, that's why it's so difficult to tell these 2 balls apart, and in comics it's usually made by putting a rice farmer hat on Indonesia ball

In Poland, highschoolers choose a profile/ school, focused on what they want to do in life before they go to highschool. Is it good to put this decision on 14 and 15 year olds? I was 13 when I had to choose. A classic Polish teacher text is "If you don't study, you'll end up digging", so a construction worker… Except they actually are paid more than teachers. I haven't had a teacher say that to me but we've actually discussed how pointless it is and instead made it about passing our final exams. Because I chose a profile after which you can't really get a job, humanistics. And in this humanistic profile, I just had 3 hours of math, 2 hours of chemistry and an hour of physics today. Also our ministry of education abolished homeworks for little kids but in my opinion, they should have done so for the older students because they won't learn responsibility. Totally not a biased highschool student opinion. 😶 But seriously, as my mom(a teacher) said, what are those kids meant to do on long, winter evenings? Also, they took away books from the cannon of readings( stuff for our final exams in 4th grade of highschool)in Polish but they didn't take away topics so we still have to talk about them. Also I've heard that people who chose classes were they learn a proffesion are thought to be stupider? I don't know why! To me they're better because they have actual skills unlike me, who just loves history and speaks decent English. Maybe I'll became a translator. Also, every single teacher(I've talked to about this) discouraged me from becoming one so... But things are changing. I also see how children and even my own classmates act and I will support teachers in most situations. Thank you for coming to my TED talk!

The USA actually has one of the worst education systems in the world. The sliding scale that is used in the USA makes it easier for students to pass even if they would have normally failed. The average American collage graduate is less educated than the average Australian high school graduate. Some American collage graduates are illiterate but they were on a sporting scholarship so they were given automatic passes because American collages are more about making money than education, American collage football makes more money than the professional football league. If you want more proof that Americans are poorly educated, you just have to look at the fact that nearly half the American population supports Donald Trump and his Republican politicians.
