Stevie with Albert King is a must watch. The chemistry between them is amazing.

I believe Buddy originally set 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' to music. Though Stevie wasn't the original recording artist, it is a very requested song by him. The version from Austin 1989 is awesome!

I was at there!!! Somehow, without the internet, we heard SRV was going to be there and we made it early enough to get in. Last time I ever saw him.

My husband and I went to see Buddy Guy in concert about 5 years ago, we couldn't believe the talent he has and so funny. He took the drummers stick and started playing his guitar with the, he was sweating so bad and grabbed a towel wiped his face with it then started playing his guitar with the towel. Every time I watch a video with Buddy Guy performing with Stevie Ray Vaughan I feel bad for Buddy Guy knowing that he performed with Stevie Ray the night Stevie Ray was killed in the helicopter crash. Stevie Ray was and Buddy Guy is masters with their guitars.

I saw Buddy a year ago on a tour with Kenny Wayne Shepard. At his age he still had a powerful voice and he did play using the drumstick and by folding the guitar cord and slapping the strings with it. My only disappointment was he took a break and let another guitarist in his group play a few songs, and he played a medley, I only remember him playing just one song all the way through. I understand at this point, he earned a break, I just wish he played a couple more complete songs. But, after all, I was glad I went. Christone "Kingfish" Ingram and K.W. Shepard were great too.

My dad was a blues drummer for over 50 years. He had so many Buddy Guy albums, and all of Stevie's. In a few of his many bands, he would play drums and sing when they did Stevie Ray Vaughn songs, Cold Shot, Pride and Joy, I hear them in my dad's voice. Cheers for this one, man, this made me smile.

The one thing I can say about Stevie is he loved to share the stage with other artists and showed them respect when playing with them never tried to over shadow them and really loved to play on stage with his idols

Buddy Guy is still out there, tearing it up! Was lucky enough to catch him in Tulsa before the world closed.

They were talking to each other in guitar. It's a secret language that they were fluent in and we only catch glimpses of.

This video, I haven't seen and could never find it again. Seems like these "Lost Footage" videos tends to disappear as time goes passing by. Never saw anything live from Buddy Guy but he seems like he would send a weekend off in the right style, and of course what is to be said of STV that hasn't been said before...just seeing these two old classics is pure magic.

Stevie is my favourite guitarist. Buddy is my favourite performer. Seen the latter twice live, you feel so connected with the man at his gigs, even in a large venue. He gives you everything he has. Never got to see Stevie live alas. Stevie just fed off every one of his heroes. He comes in here playing Buddy's frantic style. With Albert King he imitated Albert's style (In Session recordings). And he had Lonnie Mack's style down to a tee. But he also had his distinctive style that was all his own. When he was just being himself, you know who it is from the first note. Blues is about playing in the moment. I don't think you can play a blues tune the exact same way twice if you're doing it right.

Can’t forget about another great Texan duo The Winter Brothers! Johnny and Edgar are both blues legends in their own rights.

Buddy and B.B talked about meeting a young guitar who impressed them. They never heard of Hendrix at that time. Hendrix learned a lot of his showmanship from Buddy. Hendrix passed it on to those like Stevie Ray. Hendrix knew every guitar song imaginable. He was and always will be the master of them all.

It was always amazing when some of these blues players got on stage at someone else's show. Watching some of the best players ever share the lead and gleefully play rhythm for the other. It could be Copeland, Guy, or any of the Kings, it just didn't matter. Blues knows only passion and talent.

That was in October/November 1989. Buddys guitar and amps had way better tone and sound than Stevie’s much flatter/thinner sound/set up, lol. (Pretty sure that was not a mishap, even if by the house guitar techs / staff.) Axe to axe, Stevie was at a disadvantage SOUND wise. IMO.

Apologies if twice posted. Seen SRV 6 times and Buddy Guy about a dozen. SRV played loud and Buddy just loud enough. Significant difference in the approach. Lots of people just focus on the guitar work and not the lyrics. Buddy, like all true bluesman perform with a balance of lyrics and guitar work. SRV most likely did not have the rig that he usually plays with.
