Suggest you listen to "Lola" by the Kinks from 1970. It was in the top 10 of the charts for 10 weeks with saturation airplay in the US. Pay particular attention to the last words of the last verse. Most people never listened, including the FCC. I finally listened carefully in the 80's. 😯😁

@@opulentmissopal1123 I think it's because I began listening to this song when I was young. I didn't "read" into the meaning at that age. I just enjoyed the tune. I'd even sing along at times, but I never took the time to process what it meant. As an adult, I choose to listen to a different genre of music, so I haven't heard this song in a while. I'm also a visual learner, so seeing this video just took the song to a whole new level. Lol 😆

My friend’s husband died at the beginning of the summer a few months before her 30th birthday. She joked that she was the “lonely widow woman” now, and confided in me that she felt a strong urge to “feel the thunder” with someone, I think for comfort and out of loneliness. When my friend had just died weeks before, thinking about this happening in real life - especially with a teenager, as the lyrics depict - ruined this song for me forever. It was never a favourite of mine before, but now I switch the station every time it comes on.

I've always loved Garth but this song was cringe the first time it hit the radio. Particularly hit home at the time, my long time boyfriend was abusing drugs and he admitted that he had been in a similar situation when he was 14 and a married woman seduced him. She became pregnant and told him to never tell anyone. He saw the baby and it looked like him not her husband as her husband was from another country. She and her husband moved away and left my boyfriend at 15 years old with guilt and shame over a sick situation a grown woman caused. 14 is not age of consent. I never listen to this crap song

Your not 25 anymore. Last thing if your a recovering drinker, stop going to the beer joints brother. Your in my prayers legit. I just found your comedy like 2 months ago and you have something not one other comic has. Not Dave, Bill, Jim, Brian, Larry, ect. Your a born natural. Stage presence is unbelievable. I've been in ministry for 25yrs. I'm 50. I've never in any of the videos I've seen have your cussed or sweared. I know that normal for 98% of today population but it's refreshing. It's hard to flush it out once your heard it for an hour so, I don't listen to that any more. Your comedic friend she is talented as well. Put a ring on that finger. You live in a condo in downtown Nashville.......bro I'm less than an hour from there. I'm 60 mi south. We should workshop it, see if we have timing, chemistry. I have comedy coming out of holes the human body isn't supposed to have. I have 10 skits like right now.....and I'm on the toilet. Nailed it! Can I get a witness up in here? Well no, it's a single bathroom. I'm going to bug you to death, haunt your dreams, make jello and send it to a random person.

‘That Summer’ started out as a single guy and a married woman meeting at a party: the married woman being ignored by whom she was with, and they snuck off together. Allen Reynolds told me, "Man, I just don't find myself pulling for these characters. It doesn't seem innocently cool." I was thinking that he was right. Going home that night in the truck I started singing “she has a need to feel the thunder”. Sandy started helping me write the chorus and we got the chorus done. Probably one of the neat things that I love about ‘That Summer’ is that I think the song is very sexy. - Garth Brooks (1996)
