This live recording captures Scarlett Parks performing a cover of "God Bless the Child," one of my all-time favorite songs by Billie Holiday. Written in 1939 and released in 1941, this classic has become one of the most requested jazz standards. I’m deeply inspired by contemporary jazz vocalist Mary Stallings, and this rendition is from her CD titled Songs Were Made to Sing. I particularly love the string arrangement in this version.
My mission is to keep these legendary songs alive for future generations, sharing the richness of this genre and its profound historical significance. This performance holds special meaning for me as it marks my return to the stage after a two-year sabbatical. Singing this song again symbolizes my "comeback," and I’m grateful to share this moment with you. Thank you for listening.
