Your video helped me finally under Faye in a way that I never have before, and I’ve watched Bebop in full 11 times. I’ve always liked her, but her internal struggle finally clicked for me when I heard you explain it. Thank you for making this video! It’s criminally underrated among Bebop video essays.

I've watched dozens of retrospectives on Cowboy Bebop over the past two years, This is by far the best one Ive seen. The character analysis, the dissections of metaphors, the motive explorations, the themes that flow though every scene and action there in. This script is an absolute master-craft. Video and editing are not the best here but the analysis has a level of substance to make up for that and then some.Thank you for sharing your perspective on this work of art. Bravo may dude, bravo.

I believe it was implied that his right eye is the cybernetic eye, the eye that sees the present, while his real left eye is the one that sees the past. To me that makes sense: the cold machine part of his body, the pragmatic, the honest, the real: that's his present. But his dream, his love, his desires, his humanity, those are in the past.

Amazing work man. One thing: "Spike, is it for the girl" "She's dead, I cannot do anything for a dead woman" (or something like this). He could have said that because he realized what you said - he just acted to protect the crew. Not for the dead woman, but for Faye and Jet.

I finished rewatching the series today surprisingly the main feeling that i got from this rewatched is how frustrated I am to Spike on being stuck to his past. I want him to see his present, the bebop, faye, jet and being a cowboy as hope and anchor to be alive. And in retrospect Im glad I see it that way because somehow it also means I value my present and future now than the past. Cowboy Bebop is still one of the best anime ever and I still cry every time I watched it. Thank you for the review.

This is the most beautifully thought out analysis I’ve seen, I think ever. The way you dissect and explain each little detail is the best. I especially appreciate the extra time taken with Spike as he’s definitely the hardest character to read (imo). I already had a decent grip on the metaphors and details but this gave me better angles to grip with. Beautifully done

I have not seen an analysis of cowboy bebop like this one. I have to say from all the videos I have watched so far from when I first finished the anime this one surprised me the most. Your point on spike not actually being in love with Julia in the present made so much sense. He put her on a pedestal that the real her would never compare. Also the way each character was broken down went even more in depth than other videos on the same topic. I love cowboy bebop it is my favorite anime and you have made me appreciate it even more with your understanding! Thank you and awesome video this really does deserve more views and 100% need more subscribers!

I really disliked Faye at first because I thought she kept making moronic decisions, but after watching this video, can't help but feel bad for being so critical. Really nice analysis video. Ed was my favourite character, and it's not because she doesn't have a skeleton.

Imagine waking up in cryogenic chamber a hundred of years in the future with no idea who you are and have no family or friends. Then imagine a seemingly nice person who helps you only to find that they actually betrayed and saddled you with millions of dollars of their debt that you can’t repay. What kind of life could Faye have lead from this point? Not sure how you didn’t have empathy for this character who life has continuously shit on?
