In September, the glorious Slovenian city of Bohinj celebrates the return of cattle to the valley after a long summer absence on summer pastures.
The holiday takes place at Lake Bohinj. Cows are decorated with wreaths and bells, and they proudly walk along the already dry Hovek waterfall in the company of shepherds, as well as dairy and cheese producers, who, it would seem, do not fit into rural life at all. At the festival, several counters will be equipped for the sale of wicker products, wooden goods and, of course, natural milk cheese.
Along with these old-fashioned entertainments, a ball is held here, where home cooking is served, folk music is played, folk dances are danced, slingshots are fired, contests are held for the best horseshoe and who can cut a log the fastest. So don't forget to wear a lumberjack shirt.
