KEEP the laundry room but rebuild it, you could make the deck bigger, add ON to the laundry room (make it bigger), put the door on it (since it’ll be insulated & have heat & cooling) and then put a skylight in it also plus make half of it your mud room! It’ll give you SO much room for extra storage, bring some daylight in the hallway area, possibly give you a means to widen the shower a little bit! It’ll possibly give you the extra space to change up whatever you would like! Also you CAN hang art on your slanted walls just use a Velcro on the 4 sides of the art (there’s ones that can stick to the art & to the wall & then Velcro together). Also you could put the water heater in the new improved mud room!!!

Really really sorry about Winny. Thank you guys for the tour of your new home. Can't wait to see what y'all do with the laundry room but either way I'd put the water heater in the laundry room. I'd also be tempted to take out the room above the living room. Vaulted ceilings in the living room would be amazing and beautiful. I'd use that shed with the porch as your office. Just my thoughts. Anyway I'm sure y'all will blow us away with whatever you decide to do. God bless you 2 always 🤗🤗

When doing a project, mine turned out best when I took the time to ponder it. I had a ugly high back porch, very plain, just a roof. It took me years to decide what to do. I added walls on the two sides, and mini roofs over them. You will find barns like it. Turned out beautiful, that is what gave me the idea. It also gave us a wind break, and privacy. Love your new place!!

Congratulations on your property! Great to hear your plans. You asked for ideas. 🙂 I would break down the wall between the linving space and the ds bedroom. That way you get more light and a spacious living room where you can create a dining/working (Alexis) area. In the future you could break down the add on and make a sun room at the back. Great for passive warmth in the winter, plus you can use it as a mud room or build out the kitchen.

LUV IT!! Perfect land, A frame home & all the buildings! The quaintness of the A style shouldn’t be ignored but embraced. I’m torn with keeping the liv rm ceiling and the bedroom vs vaulting it up like they were designed. And a wall of glass if it will benefit you with natural heat and light. We can see the view there! 💯 What direction will that wall face, south 🙏🏻? I like the idea of bumping out the kitchen but that’s quite a bit of $$ and I’m not sure of bumping out the roof line. They look kinda weird imo when you change the outside structure lines. Do you plan on having many family gatherings/sleepovers? Having that extra bedroom comes in handy. But if it’s 10% of the time I would consider removing a guest bedroom. And I truly LUV the idea of adding a few tiny rentals! I’ve never been to PNW but I have some family out there that have invited me out! I know I luv the THOW I just got and look forward to at least a couple moves! Blessings to you both! {{HUGS}} & 🙏🏻 for the loss of your pup. 🌲🏡🌲

Thank you so much! Excellent feedback. It is important to think big picture about how much the room gets utilized for guests. 🤔 We’re torn on the living room ceiling too! Maybe getting a contractor or structural engineer out here at some point to take a look and get an estimate of cost would help us decide. We absolutely want to get a metal roof with more insurance & add skylights throughout, but that will definitely require a chunk of change 😅

I feel you have to live in a space for a while until things fall into place. Usually 3-5 years. I have renovated multiple small homes and currently live in a 500sqft converted garage that I gutted and redesigned. Here are my recommendations. Buy 24” appliances, 18” dishwasher or install a dishwasher drawer, can be pricy but worth it. I put 18” dishwashers in all my properties. Replace hot water tank with tankless and put in laundry room. Keep laundry room and turn into pantry storage and add a window and perhaps buy a small upright freezer is nice to have. Convert downstairs bedroom into office space and move upstairs until you build your office shed. When replacing your roof, keep existing one and sheath it with metal, definitely cut in sky lights. Before you start any projects I would definitely work on what brings you in income first like building RV hook ups for tinies. Place looks awesome, don’t be in a rush, best of luck to you both, can’t wait to see the progress.

I like A frames, might consider that the extra upstairs bedroom is actually helping your heat to be more easily regulated just by how much heat you alow upstairs. It is really practical, and allows an extra room for office or creative space. looks like an enjoyable space.😊 sounds like you two are having fun figuring it out.

Had to watch(parts) twice, just to observe and see it all! I'm so glad you A, C, got this plot of land! You are super creative and resourceful, that I am sure you would come up with a solution. My option would be to add a 2nd A-frame perpendicular to the bedroom/living wall and put the w/d in it/ mudroom entrance. Then have the office above that space. Great ad A, as usual a good sales person 😁. 🥶🖤👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰

Nice fixer upper. I see lots of ideas of my own. The living area, I'd leave the floor joists exposed and paint or cover the ceiling in between a light color. Put a skylight/ window near the coat/ shoe area. Under the steps in the kitchen. I'd put a full length door where the spice rack is and make a pullout pantry behind it. If there's enough room to utilize it as such. Make the downstairs bedroom into an office area for both of you together. Put the washer/ dryer on the perhaps outside wall. In the same room. That would give you a larger deck area outside. Put the mini-split above it as it is now. Or put it in the master bedroom upstairs. If it's a dual zone type. You could do both bedroom and office/laundry room. I don't know how big the downstairs bedroom is. So that would be the deciding factor on that. Just ideas I thought I'd share with you. All and all, it's your baby. Be the creative couple that you are. Good luck, can't wait to see the dreams you have for it come true.

I LOVE the A frame! Always have been a fan of them and actually have a couple family members who have built and lived in them for many years. One about the size you have and another about 3 times the size of your current! Best advice is to build for YOU as I am sure is no surprise and what you do! Best is to think about your future in the plan. Do you plan to stay in that house forever? Live your life in the NOW but in the future can you adjust anything so their are no stairs to climb other than on occasion? Apparently there is a downstairs bedroom now that can become one again. I think your laundry/mud room is a must! Rebuild it properly. Bring it up to that window. Regardless I love it they way it is honestly. Just give your future a little thought and what will make sense now also!

I think the house is perfect, I would live there and in that property happily. Here are a couple of tips: 1) I would not paint the living room walls in dark colors (green) because the limited amount of light you have. I would paint them white so that the light can bounce of the walls making it seem brighter. You have beautiful dark woods, let them be the focal point. 2) I would get rid of the big water heater and install an on-demand unit, they are way smaller and gives you room for some storage and saves you water.

I always loved Frames. Lived in one (rental) in Georgia, near a town called Harlem while I was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA (Army School). Anyway, I'm wondering how the validity of Tiny homes as a core of your future videos will feel authentic. Would you now consider going to small homes too? You now live in 850SF, which is greater than the sub 400 SF of some larger tiny homes. Maybe 850 SF and Below?
@TinyHouseExpedition
6 ай бұрын
That’s so great! We are interested in filming more small space homes but will continue to focus on tiny houses. The validity of our tiny home videos is not an issue from our perspective. We built one, lived in it for almost 7 years, traveled the country numerous times with it, actively advocate for legal acceptance as part of the Tiny Home Industry Association, advocate locally, are creating a mini tiny home community-among other things including converting a shuttle bus into a camper. 😅 Suffice to say we have been immersed in the tiny world for over a decade and continue to support & participate it, even if not living tiny full-time. 🙂🍻

Keep your 3rd bedroom specially for guests that way you’ll have designated space for your son even as he grows into his adult years (now that you are more settled), plus you’ll have it for whatever space YOU may need it for as you become MORE settled, maybe a specific office/guest room, & then you’d have it already there for when you have a grandchild! Believe me those years come so much faster than you realize (so cherish all the years you’ve got now & every year that comes, there always all special memories in different ways!)!!! I know that you’ve enjoyed every moment of your travels through the years, but I’m sure it’s amazing to have a special home base also! I’ve so much loved all of your tours, you’ve given me so very many ideas! I honestly would LOVE to go tiny (I just don’t have the means or the support I would need, I DO realize that there’s people who’ve done it themselves you guys being one, but it’s literally JUST me & I’m disabled with awful credit!), it’s what I dream of daily! I binge watch every type of tiny that I can daily LOL!!! So I’m a massive fan of what you & people like you are doing!!! I watched today the video on Piecewinds in Coco FL & fell totally in love with her home and the village she’s been creating & her creating legislation for tiny homes all over! It’s so very very needed in this world!!! I also LOVE the villages created for the homeless, which is basically what I am, I live with a friend (someone I THOUGHT was a friend!) & am STUCK! I want OUT of my city & state, and quite frankly would live in a car if I had one! I’ve had to do so (before I moved in here) with my 2 dogs! I’m so very sorry for the pity myself comment, it’s not what I’d intended. I just wanted to say how very much I love what you’re doing & how happy I am for you & I hope and pray for your health, happiness, & all of your hopes and dreams!!!!

I am SO very very sorry for the loss of your beloved Winny!!! I absolutely dread for the day of losing my babies! He said that it was last year, perhaps it time to adopt a new guy and add to the home & whatever adventures still await!!! I’m positive that’s what Winny would want for you! 😢

Oh, I just had some renovation thoughts/questions. What if you use the downstairs bedroom as an office? Even if you took down the living room wall, could you just make that bedroom smaller for an office? Open up the living room ceiling would be very cool but can you afford to lose the living space that is upstairs? Can you redo the bathroom and laundry so that you would walk through the bathroom to a laundry room? I agree with you that you should do higher countertops in the kitchen. Could you put a small dishwasher under the stairs? Or maybe a drawer dishwasher in with the cabinets. I LOVE that you will work on creating your own tiny community on your property. Wish I could do that here (St. Louis, MO), we have no tiny house communities, well the one for the homeless. Love watching your videos, thank you.

I don't know how this took me so long to see/watch, but here I am! 😅 I loved finally getting to see where you've been emailing me from for all this time 😂. What a great tour and quirky home! I didn't realize that there were so many structures on the property. What a great buy! I, of course, have a million suggestions for everything, but it might be too many projects on top of what you already have planned. I will however suggest that if you do get rid of a bedroom, maybe it could be the downstairs one and you can rework that space ( and the laundry room into a kitchen/bathroom expansion and still have room to put Christian's office there as well 🤔. I'd need some some measurements and a floorplan, but there's lots that can be done with that cute house! Also, I'm personally a fan of keeping the floor above the living room open and just painting/insulating the ceiling and staining the beams rather than closing it in with sheetrock. Just some food for thought. Thanks for sharing!❤

I was a little girl when I discovered A-frames, as well! I love the snuggly feeling of the wood and rafters, but skylights will be a great addition. The propane lr stove looks wonderful. Maybe your new stove/oven could make use of that. The woven baskets really match the aesthetic. So sorry to hear about Winnie😢. I might make the upstairs bedroom office a nice sitting/reading/meditating area for you both. Thanks for the tour!❤

You both should tour Aframe homes. It was so fun watching the tour of your Afame that I’d love to watch more tours plus you would get helpful ideas for your renovations. Your home is so cozy and lovely. I’m also sorry for the loss of you dog. It was very nice of you both to give her such a nice place to look out in the big door window🙏May God bless your homes

If you want to keep the room over the living room, you might consider painting in between the beams. It would add a nice effect, make it appear lighter (if you use a light colour, or even sage green), and be affordable. ❤

If you do a new roof I would do dormer windows which will add room inside instead of doing skylights. I would also make your current room into your office space with some sort of Murphy bed combo that has shelves that pivot on a rod so nothing falls off when you lower the bed! I would also rebuild the back section to go the entire width of the house to create a laundry room & extend the kitchen.

Absolutely’ I love it! 3 bedrooms is a plus in my opinion! But an office space for you both down stairs would be nice also. Then you guys will have a master bedroom. Me personally I would keep the laundry room but open that wall for easier access! Whatever you guys decide will be fabulous!!! ☺️
