4-6-4 #2816 is a gorgeous steam locomotive. Call me old fashioned but to me this magnificent piece of machinery will never ever be a CPKC locomotive. Just like the case of restored AT&SF 4-8-4 #2926. It will never ever be a BNSF locomotive, at least to me.

I see the old “Safety Express” aux tender is the first car behind 2816’s tender. Neat.
@ekrwy2
3 ай бұрын
I know the one behind Reading 2101 was a Mohawk tender from The Chessie Steam Specials but the Safety Express tender that 614 pulled for Chessie Safety Express and for the 1984-1985 test runs as well as 765 pulled for only the 1986 New River Train was an L&N Big Emma tender converted to an aux water tender? That’s what Glen Brendal told me several years ago, may he rest in peace.

@@paulw.woodring7304Another net pic of mine is people who stand too close to grade crossings, twist with the locomotive and zoom in on it as it goes. Hardly any of those shots turnout especially when it's open land. Be 50 yards off, far enough away from the crossing so the ringing/whistle isn't killing audio too.

Why do people have such a hard time accepting that the reporting name of Canadian Pacific is now Canadian Pacific Kansas City and dictates its reporting name of the loco.
@1Nanerz
3 ай бұрын
@@KB9813 because it was a sad attempt to appease American investors who might not like the idea that a Canadian company bought them. CN did the same thing for a few years after they bought IC for the same reason. They finally dropped it because it affected the brand recognition. The CN logo is one of the 50 most recognized corporate logos in the world. CPRs corporate legacy of building the nation of Canada is just as important and should not be diluted just to appeal to some shareholders for a buyout. You can’t really tell me the new CPKC logos/paint jobs on locomotives looks good or creative compared to any of the former CPR or even KCS schemes. Hopefully no paint scheme changes will ever hit the Empress during her lifetime.

Saskatchewan resident here. It's only ugly looking right now because the snow has only recently all melted away. The color will be in soon. But I've noticed that the people who usually don't live here don't see the hidden beauty within. Yes, April is usually an ugly time, I'll admit, but once the native grass and flowers grow and the fields behind to bring more colours (yellows, gold, green and even blue-purple), it can become very nice. I love it in the prairies and I don't plan to ever leave my province.

@bluecollarden Continued ... summertime all my life. I really like the forests, mountains, ocean, glaciers, beaches, volcanoes , clear rivers and lakes etc. And the large biodiversity that comes with it. 5 months of summer definitely outweighs the 13 weeks I used to get on the praries! I feel almost ripped off when I think of my childhood. I love the fishing and being able to grow palm trees, fig trees, and kiwi as well ! Glad you appreciate your surroundings, but if I didn't have family there, I would never go back. Also the conservative and conspiracy theory vibe that dominates there now is really creepy. Churches everywhere and Neo Nazi camps, etc. Could be referred to as the 'Deep South' of Canada between the Rockies and the hundredth meridian. Glad you like it but it ain't for me. Enjoy your sudden spring and make the most of your summer! - Peace
