Seasoned drywallers will scoff at this, but I don’t use paper and mud in corners even on new wallboard, just a clean bead of extreme stretch or dynaflex. Once it’s textured and painted it’s good, and none of them have ever split or cracked. I don’t ever do full or large drywall jobs, just medium sized stuff, so the time this saves is worth the cost of a couple tubes of caulk

If is white on a white area, no need to paint. It's finish is better than paint. Save time and quickly and lightly paint it if another colour. It will pass inspection and taking payment will take longer than the job. I do a hundred a year as we are on reactive clay. I'm cheap and on time.
@dean4670

Do you have a caulk you recommend that won’t yellow out? That’s the reason to paint IMO because the dust tends to stick to the caulk making it dirty looking and the caulk tends to turn yellow.

This is a cosmetic fix and does not address the real possibility of a more serious problem. Shifting.
@Asphaltaperider
2 жыл бұрын
Right. What needs to happen is to re-tape or us a reinforced corner bead in the corner, and then re-mud it. If course this is typically done after the reason for the shifting is figured out. It would be much better than this 1 year fix. It'll pull out pretty quick.
