Craft cocktails of all varieties are making the rounds and Ashevillian's are drinking them up. Here are a few of our favorite spots around town.
Classic cocktails done right are the focus here at Little Jumbo. A cocktail lounge with a speakeasy vibe. They offer a specific selection of cocktails. Drop in on Wednesday nights where they feature one classic cocktail served two ways. This is the jumbo service Manhattan. Whiskey, Vermouth and Bitters are stirred to a chill, then elegantly served over crushed ice.
It's not all booze all the time here in Asheville, here are some spirit-free options anyone can try starting with a stop at a different type of watering hole, a kombucha bar. Sarah Schomber and Jeannine Buscher are the co-founders of Buchi Kombucha and they are here to take us through their process.
Kombucha's a probiotic beverage that's made by fermenting tea and kind of like beer or wine, there's a lot of different styles and ways to ferment that with different types of tea. They like to say theirs is kind of a cross between a cider and a champagne. Whether you're new to kombucha or you're new to Buchi, the best way to start is by sampling a taste of everything you have. Let's get into the tasting!
For a drink that's more like a dessert, head to the maker of all things sweet, French Broad Chocolate. Step into the chocolate library for their specialty drink, a decadent liquid truffle sipping chocolate which is exactly what it sounds like.
Just a few blocks away, this iconic double decker bus has been permanently parked in Downtown Asheville since 1999. Locals and tourists alike hop into Double D's for a classic cup of joe or one of their specialty drinks like the Lavender Honey Latte.
For a slice of zen right here in the city, head over to Dobra Tea. A traditional tea room that's home to every kind of tea imaginable. Sustainably sourced from around the world. A local favorite is the Forest Dragon, green tea that's iced with matcha and fresh mint, delicious.
You can't visit Asheville without walking by a brewery or a tasting room. Beer has taken over this small town, there are over 26 breweries in this area.
From beer to hot chocolate, cocktails to kombucha, Asheville will definitely keep you happy and hydrated.
