I have been adding 3 signatures, the middle one being a travel journal. And for $20 cdn. A LOT of work. But a labour of love. You know!! But seeing your latest you tube video was just what l needed to drag me out of my funk. Thank you soooooo much for everything you do. I adore your channel. You are awesome! Alison. XOXOXOXO

Love this your idea. I watched another crafter in 2023, who lives in a large city, make these Little Golden Book Journals and, of course, hers was much different. They would simply gorgeous. It was so complicated and complex to make these journals that I only watched half to it. Throughout the video, I thought,, my goodness, I don't know if I really have time to follow that idea or even make them. I believe she sold them for $25.00 to 30.00. Regrettably, no one living in my area would pay that much for them.

This tutorial was so thoughtful! You covered every aspect of making these journals. I've seen lots of other videos on the subject, but they look so much more complicated than yours. I have a print shop less than a mile from my home that we've hired to do signs for the craft fair that we coordinate. I will definitely be asking them to drill my books. Here's a tip for you: Many libraries have used book sales, especially in the spring and summer. I went to ours in July specifically looking for LGB. I found a ton of them, everything from Christmas to Easter to Disney, etc. I came home with 65! Those, along with several novels set me back $30! Now that's a bargain. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials. Thanks from Gettysburg, PA

What a fabulous idea! And I was so happy to see how you punched the thumb notch....ONE layer! I'm pretty sure you are the first paper crafter I've seen who didn't notch both layers, which totally defeats the purpose of notching it in the first place, which is to make it easier to separate the two layers of paper. And as others have said here, I wouldn't dream of deconstructing my own childhood books, but I'll be on the lookout at thrift and antique stores. Thanks for showing your process and for the tip about seeking out a local print shop for the hole punching. 👍🏻

Hey Amber, thank you for another greatly anticipated tutorial. Suggestion- does your husband have a drill press in the garage or one of his friends have one? Maybe test one out for those holes. Because of what my husbands business does we have a small Dremel drill press and a larger one from Harbor Freight. Don’t know what kind of drill the print shops have but you might look into it. Just have to make sure the drill is a fine threaded one. Just a thought if you wanted to do it yourself. I have The Golden books my mom bought me in the fifties brand new. No I won’t tear then apart but I will haunt the second hand stores. In the northern California antique stores along the coast there are tons of the used golden books. Again a very well explained and easily understood tutorial. 🤶🎅🎄

Your books are adorable. i have lots of those October Afternoon papers. Authentique makes vintage looking paper lines. October Afternoon is no longer in business. As for the rings, if the ring is smaller, the book does not close flat. Your rings seem large, but are probably the best size for your book. I hope you will show us when you make some journals with your non-Christmas Golden Books. Happy crafting and thank you for your fabulous video tutorials.
