Thanks for this. This is so helpful. As someone who makes junk journals and altered books and as someone who collages, I have lots of obsessions, and we all know the gathering process (thrift stores, yard sales, etc) can lead to an overabundance of materials. I get overwhelmed with what I have and probably waste some time looking through the items. At the same time, I value the process of flipping through random books when I have a project in mind. Unfortunately, I'm somewhat anti-bin, especially the ones with lids. I would never use the items in the small lidded bins. Mainly I organize by color. I'm inspired to post a video on my method now.

Wow Gina, Everything is so pretty and color coordinated and organized. You truly do not know the meaning of HOT mess! Lol Thank you for the tour. Now, I know I can improve my craft room. I will be doing my first craft fair on November 18th. I was hoping to get some input on how you set up your booth and how you display your books. I guess I will let you know how it turns out! Jibid sent me the intro to junk journal sheet, so I could share them with the buyers. I made handmade business cards, and that idea came from Amber who does craft fair ideas for other items than junk journals. She said people really like handmade business cards. I wonder if I could sell them! Lol! The paper flowers you made are beautiful. Someday, I will get it in gear to show some KZitem videos as well! Blessings, Chrissie

Just recently found your channel and was wondering how you store things (and you heard me, just like the kids here me when I think in my head about getting rid of a specific toy). We are inclined to be hoarders of crafty stuff but I get overwhelmed. Your things are sorted and containerized but how do you function? Get that this is a business but you also teach so just a part time business. Have you stopped "shopping"? Even if you get rid of a couple inches of stuff each year, how long will it take you to use it all? And how do you not waste time with decision fatigue each time you make something? Do you make a smaller kit and make several books from it? I'm mostly a scrapbooker and probably have that many scrapbooks also but they are out where people can look at them. Have the same ikea cart but keep mine mostly empty as I like to pack it for crops. Do you ever do your books outside of the house? I get overwhelmed trying to decide what I will "need" but maybe since you are better at ecclectic that isn't a problem for you. Thanks for reading my question book:)
@stellarjstudios
7 жыл бұрын
Hello Tracy, great questions. I'll see if I can answer some - I never stop 'shopping' there is good stuff to be found, always. Having my room organized helps keep me focused and stops me from wasting time trying to figure out what I have. I have never been to a crop. I do all my creating here at home. But, I can imagine that I would be totally befuddled trying to decide what to take. That would be very tough, for sure. xoxo- gina

Your video will make great reference. I HAVE to re-do mine somehow. I too use utility shelving and two cubby style shelving units and many, many bins. I am just overwhelmed and am at the point where I can barely walk through. Too funny! As I am typing this, I am remembering that I DO in fact have a tale in my room. The only reason why I have that is because it fell off a shipping truck and couldn't be sold. Lucky me!!! xoxo- gina

Your studio is beautiful and so well stocked!! My late grandmother had a little recipe box just like yours when I was a little girl. If you ever decide to sell it please let me know. I truly enjoyed your studio tour, thank you for sharing, Nicole :-)

Very cool room! I've stuffed everything into 2 carts with drawers (and I'm starting to overflow). We recently rescued a feral cat who is eyeing the carts figuring out whether to risk it & jump on top. LOL Thanks for sharing. 🦋🌈

wow, that's quite the inventory!! I'm amazed how much you have in this space, all organized and ready to be used. What size room is this? I'm in my daughter's old bedroom but I don't think it's this big. Loved visiting your "shop" tfs!!

Omgosh...I can only liken how I'm feeling as to that of a small child in a candy store!! I have only recently discovered junk journaling and book altering, so it has been hard for me to wrap my mind around how to get started, or having enough bits and bobs to even begin a project! Then I see this and feel like a grain of sand in a vast sea lol! Wowsers, what a fantastic collection you have Gina!!! Next time you declutter, perhaps make some starter kits to sell...I know a beginner like myself would be giddy over such a thing! Perhaps something like that is available out there, I've no idea...all I do know is that I wish it was still garage sale season!! Many blessings, Christina ~

Oh, you are too kind. I remember that feeling of being overwhelmed. The best way to work through that is to not try and compare yourself or your stash to others. You might enjoy watching my series titled, "Finding your style". I talk about my beginnings as an art journaler. kzitem.info/news/bejne/zJ2byahsh2ukh44 xoxo- gina
