Hi everyone, a little tip, instead of using basswood, use heavy chipboard for your project. In hindsight, I probably should have used this material.

You can take a piece of aluminum foil and ball it up the carefully punch the blade through the ball to sharpen it, this should get you through a project until you get a replacement blade. Also when you get ready to make furniture Cricut has the same chairs as what you have outside..

Yes, I definitely made doll houses as a little girl, but they were made of just plain cardboard boxes that I painted….I made curtains from scraps of material and took many things my mom threw away and converted it into furniture and decorations. Not much to look at in the end but I adored using my imagination and kept busy for hours. Got to thinking about your roof…wouldn’t shingles made by cutting off the ends of popsicle sticks look cute? Maybe time consuming but it would make for a very sweet cottage look. Enjoyed this so much. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! ❤️

Basswood is very fragile, and absorptive. If you are painting, paint both sides, and the warp will sort of cancel itself out. If you cut the same piece twice (whatever materiel) you can glue it back to back around some duct tape or cloth. This can form a strong hinge without visiting the hardware store. For glueing, try making strips on the corners that overlap "L" as "Trim", when it also reinforces the corner. you can glue the "L" together first (not nearly as much leverage) and then use it to bind your sides together. Card stock is easy to cut with a normal Cricut blade, and can be stacked to make window frames. With the window shape, but some clear acetate and layer the frame around it for a "glass" window look.
