Dang, I have an old Gravely going on eight years. I pulled the cover and looked at it this week and it looks well worn. I took a pix and going to pickup a set to hang on the wall, figure I will change in the spring unless I need them sooner. I grease my deck 2-3 times a year and sharpen the blades in the spring.

I would also blow the grass and dirt from the top side of the deck whit my leaf blower. I found keeping that clean helped keep things from going bad. Cheers

It’s been quite a few years so I was wondering if you’re still mowing with those belts or if you have found a better one for the 1/2” x 95 1/2” Craftsman LT 1000 ( which I have.) I had a backup but it busted as soon as I pushed the engage. I might have put it on wrong but I don’t think so. I was gonna order another but found your video and thought I’d ask? Thanks for the video!

I no longer use these mowers as I moved back to the city (YUK) However I did use the equipment for several years after this video. The gates belts were the way to go.

@@breakerbroke23Sorry about your not being out of the city anymore! I ordered the Kevlar type from D&D. I’ll keep the Gates version in mind if this one doesn’t work out. Thanks for responding and for the video!

Quick question Ive replaced everything on my mower deck all level and straight as well., spindles mandrels everything and everything is straight. I have an LT2000 craftsman 42 inch mower. Is the pulley under the engine that holds the cutting deck belt but also holds the drive belt higher up suppose to always spin? I understand that its suppose to be a kevlar belt since if the pulley is always spinning as it is attached to the engine the belt is suppose to slip and Kevlar is the only thing that will stand up...I have been using rubber type belts which causes the belt to get warm and eventually it starts gripping ans spinning the ( and eventually breaks very soon after ) blades even when the blades are disengages my lever. So please let me know if this is normal or is pulley on engine is not suppose to spin..The top and bottom pulleys on the engine look like thyy are welded though...

@@outlet6989 yup...the main thing is people need to get the correct belt material and length. dont put a black rubber belt on your cutting deck. It is designed to slip when the engine wheel keeps turning because it never stops turning and the black belts heat up and grab the wheel and thats what causes the blades spinning. you want a kevlar belt so it does not heat up they are only like 20 bucks on ebay or any where.

Go to sears3.com and punch in the model number of your mower (should be under your seat ) . Look on the breakdown of your mower deck, you should find the belt size that way.. Good luck and cheers.

@@MikeJones-rk1un Hey Mike, be sure to follow the manufacturer numbers because I have run into problems with fat belts- I’m referring to 5/8” belts. My OEM for my ‘15 Craftsman is 954-0467a. OEM is 3/8” X 90.8”. This is made by MTD, maker of most mowers (cub, yard, craftsman, MTD) so many parts fit. Most replaceable belts measure 5/8” x 91”, which in my machine smokes and runs erratic. It has been a factor in my case-
