I bought the same jointer from Lowe’s approximately two years ago. Just opened it about a month ago. It was brand new but looks like it had been opened. It was in original packaging, doesn’t look like it was ever removed from from box. The only thing missing was the manual. I was able to pull up the online manual but was only needed to find out what the red “lockout” device was. The thing assembled without a manual. I put a square on the fence and it was perfect. I’ve used it for approximately four hours and works great. For a small shop or hobbyist, I recommend it whole heartedly!

I appreciate your down to earth honesty and simplicity. I am at this moment trying to decide between the Porter Cable and the Craftsman jointer. Craftsman is cheaper, but I am told the two machines are the same with different badging and colors. Of course I know that the company that owns Craftsman also owns Porter Cable (Black and Decker)...so I also understand that the PC jointer is actually discontinued but stock is still for sale. I can't understand why I am unable to decide on the Craftsman machine over the PC one...thanks for the review!!!

Most often we base our decisions on what we can afford. We research the best option for our money. For me the Craftsman was the right choice. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have bought this jointer and had to return it because it stopped working in 30 mins, replacement came and stopped working after 1.5 hours, if you read the reviews on craftsmans website 15 or more of the most recent 1 star reviews are all for the same reason, there is some design defect in the motor and it just dies

@@BuckysCustoms I bought over the summer with my stimulus check, the first one I got I ran one small piece of 2x4 through to check it, I turned it off and reached for another piece, and when I turned it back on it was dead, no nothing, I returned it to lowes and got a replacement and after running around 15 feet of 4x4s through it it died mid cut and wouldn't turn back on, I was pretty bummed because it was my 1st jointer and when it worked it did a good job, but seeing all the reviews of the same exact issue make you realize that it's a crapshoot of weather you will get a good one or a dud

@@jefftucker9225 Geeze I wonder if there is a problem with the Speed dial. did you try turning it back and fourth? Regardless, not your problem and taking it back to the store is probably the best. Mine still runs strong and I use it almost everyday. I love it. Sorry you are having issues still.

Thanks for the video. I this jointer on sale at a local lowes. And bought the couple of days ago. I have one project to finish before I open it. Have you had any issues with the short Infeed and outfield tables? I watched a couple reviews where they commented about the table length. Thanks again.

Table Length is definitely an issue. I use it mostly for cutting boards so works well. And I have no room for a floor model
