With the rapidly spreading popularity of single-stream recycling programs, in which users co-mingle all recyclables into one large container, curb-sort recycling trucks have become all but extinct. However, some communities still utilize curb-sort recycling trucks in order to reduce contamination and increase the value of the recovered commodities. Without further ado, I present you with a very fine example of one of these remaining recylers - the Dempster Recycle One trough-loaded recycler body, seen here mounted to a Crane Carrier Co. Low-Entry Tilt (LET) cab and chassis! This truck is seen here collecting residential recyclables separated into three different bins - one for bottles and cans, one for newspaper, and the other for mixed paper and cardboard. The pre-sorted recyclables are placed into the proper corresponding compartments in the truck's trough. Once the trough is full, a linkage system raises the trough to the top of the body, and turns over to deposit the recyclables into the truck. The recyclables are kept separate by a set of partitions within the body. When the truck is dumping out at the recycling facility, the partitions are able to be opened one at a time, allowing the recyclables to stay separated throughout the entire process! I hope you all enjoy the video!
I'd like to extend a huge thank you out to this very friendly and professional driver for allowing me to shoot some video of this truck!
