That is the sort of kit the Navy had on their carriers. Grove call them "Carrydeck" and I think that one is a GCD15 (Nerd hat on now). Had to be powerful but small for a carrier. Quite impressed how some faffing, easy start and an extinguisher got that little beauty running and even working. Of course there was never any doubt with Ted supervising proceedings. RIP the booster pack.

I actually grew up 5 minutes from grove manufacturing in Pennsylvania. It’s in the middle of farmland in a rural valley. Always cool to see these cranes all over the world. I saw a good many in London in 2019.

Looks like a Perkins G4.203 engine, worked on one some 10+ years ago. The piston crowns have a huge machined dish in them to drop the compression ratio from that of the diesel 4.203.

Years ago I saw one of those that had flipped over 180 degrees on the road near Bisley Surrey. It was sat on its boom upside down, just balancing in the middle of the road.

For the man Adam who rarely smiles or talks ... he must REALLY like this little crane as i've never seen him smile so much !!😅 I've just seen an American video ( consequently) that had a very similar crane to this ,as for steering there was a little switch that turned it from " front, rear or crab steering "

You will be surprised how handy a little carry deck crane can be. Small and "nimble" for want of a better word. Gets into tight spaces and lifts heavy stuff! G'day from Tasmania

The is a boom extension on the crane,you have to install it with pins so you can reach the top of the shop.

The "boom extension" is a fly-jib and it provides extra horizontal, not vertical, reach.

@@HotTacticalBoyfriendOfficial There are fly jibs, luffing jibs and purely boom extensions bolted or pinned straight to the telescopic boom. If it's inline wit the telescopic elements,it's an extension,and it will have the same angle relative to the ground as the boom itself.

Love the "turbo delete" exhaust manifold adapter. Far be it from Perkins to waste perfectly good diesel exhaust manifolds....lol. I'd leave the moss growing on the dash. Maybe it will turn into an oak tree someday.

Handy little Carry Deck you got there, going to be pretty handy around the farm! "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" I had a 67 MGB, ran well, couldn't keep the Lucas, or Luckless electrical working for shit, moved it down the road after 8 months!

Ah, the Perkins G engines, you could order a MF135/240 with a petrol engine, supposedly for use in horse arenas and the likes when the diesels would be a bit loud. Apparently.
