I think the retrieval speed for medium-deep diving crankbaits depends on time of year. In cold water and hot water when bass are more lethargic you wanna reel slow but in warm/ cool when bass are in more of a feeding frenzy you wanna fish it quicker, you'll get way more reaction strikes.

Thanks Tyler. I just started bass fishing at the end of last season. I caught several monsters then. Now, I'm hooked. The ice has just thawed on my private lake in Northern Idaho. Went out the past couple of days just to practice throwing my new Lews Smash. I'm so ready to catch fish! You should come fishing with us. My neighbor has an air bnb vacation rental. Just sayin.

Awesome video man, very informative and helpful to the amateur hobby angler such as myself...I've been fishing for pea's lately, and so far the lipless crankbaits have been my most successful, but I know I am doing a few things wrong as my success rate isn't probably what it should be, which is why I am here watching this video! lol..Keep em coming dude!!

Say what u want but my 30lbs braid on my Vexan wasp in the perch color slays any fish in my area, hooks or strong enough they will last a life time, and my line will never fail I love letting the fish fight and drag out until I can just reel it in but the 30lbs braid ensures I will absolutely never lose my favorite lures

I strongly disagree with the medium heavy rod part. Just my expieriences, I've lost fish of a lighter action rod because the back bone wasn't there, and I've never lost a fish on a MH. On the other hand, I upgrade all my hooks on mine, and never had that issue of bending hooks. But good content. 👍subscribed

@expomm

I think the issue is the wrong use of terminology, mixing action and power creates confusion, what Tyler is trying to recommend is to use a medium action rod instead of a fast action rod. Power of the rod relates to the backbone and the capacity of the rod to handle heavy lures and heavier fish target. Using a light power rod certainly not a good idea to catch big bass that can even break the rod.
@Prostarter88
2 жыл бұрын
@@expomm and I disagree with you there as well. I've caught plenty of big bass on lighter, smaller spinning gear. I've caught a 6.5 on 6 lb test on a crappie rod. If you are breaking rods fishing, then you probably should research on how to use your gear properly and learn how to set the drag.

well, it depends how the fish are I mean for crankbaits square bill and medium depth diving crankbaits, I found out that the faster it is the more bites I tend to get. Like slow works as well but other times you want to make the crankbait look afraid, or try to get away from the predator. Odds are, you will not be able to out reel a fish.
@Redneckrino

I always reeled it fast but Reeling it fast to get it down there actually is not correct. I just got done listening to Lee sissons the inventor at bagley. He said that to get it to the deepest reel medium or slowly if not he says I won’t dive as far. Not kidding. 😂 I was wrong to👍🏼
