This video shows how my F1000 (Formula Atlantic) season ended this past weekend at Road America during Race 1 of the June Sprints when I was forced off the track and slid into a wall. It's presented as a learning experience.
The driver of the black and red #27 Ligier F3 car, Jon Collins (of Illinois USA, not the Australian driver by the same name), missed the apex of Turn 1, ran off the track driver's left, and rejoined the track surface having neither regained control of his machine nor having even locked it down (note that his wheels continue to rotate). He rapidly closed the door on me, leaving me only the options of hitting him at high speed or diving into the grass. I chose the grass, upon which I slid into a wall, doing about $10,000 of damage to my car.
The good news is that my car appears repairable, but due to the need to fabricate several custom replacement parts, it's likely out for the remainder of the 2023 season.
Thanks to Sean Beever for the video from the trailing number 88 car.
