How to upgrade stats?
For builders you ONLY upgrade tower stats, nothing else. For DPS you NEVER upgrade tower stats.
On DPS you upgrade your armor to 41% for all 4 resistance stats, that will get you 90% to all resistances on Nightmare and above. Without that you will have trouble staying alive. 90% resist is twice as much as 80% resist so it matters a lot. (If you take 1000 dmg with 90% resist you lose 100 HP, with 80% you lose 200 HP).
On DPS you want enough Hero HP to stay alive without problems but not more than is needed.
You primarily want to spend points on Hero Damage and at the same time some Ability 1 or 2 depending on class. For example for a Monk you would maybe want 3000 Hero HP, 5000 Hero Damage and 3000 Hero Boost.
Always use armor of the same type, eg. Mail or Chain, as that gets you a set bonus of 30% or more to all stats from the armor.
All numbers get you diminishing returns, for example if a Monk's Hero Boost is 1000 it will buff damage output of the team by ~2.8x and 5000 Hero Boost will boost damage by ~4.0x, so not that much more despite going from 1000 to 5000 stat.
For builders go for this priority order:
Apprentice: Damage - Rate - Range - Health (too low health can be a problem)
My App stats: 3200, 8100, 3300, 4300
Summoner: Health - Damage - Rate - Range (extremely short range can become a problem for archers)
My Summoner stats: 7200, 3700, 1600, 2800
Huntress: Range - Damage - Rate - Health (as much health as is needed to comfortably keep traps alive by repairing)
My Huntress stats: 3500, 4200, 7900, 3800
Monk: Range - Damage - Health - Rate (health is quite important for auras or they drain fast, but having more than enough isn't going to do anything)
My Monk stats: 4100, 4400, 8500, 1700
EV: Damage - Health - Rate - Range (more damage on the EV will cause towers placed in Buff Beams to deal more damage, just like more Rate will make them shoot faster)
My EV stats: 3800, 8800, 3300, 3800
Just because a stat is the least important it doesn't mean that it is okay to have it at or close to zero. For example if the highest stat is 5000 the lowest one should be maybe 1000.
