Rope rescue teams from Corvallis, Eugene, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson and Josephine Counties worked with the Crater Lake National Park rangers to extract debris in the caldera caused by an auto accident. Detritus was collected in a litter and brought to the road level multiple times. Recovery of this material required excellent team work to safely lower people over 1,000 feet from the crater rim to pick up the scattered material piece by piece and then haul man and material back up.
