This was a really good trapping day to watch! It would be cool to see the different traps and how they're made. Thanks for the great video. Much love from the Midwest US 💖

This is sick! What do you guys think the season is for these guys? I want to catch for eating. I live in Minneapolis but am scoping out spots around the metro that may work. Also which trap would you all recommend ?

I start around the first week in june . then stop around end of August. Water temps play a big part . i make my traps from 1/4inch hardware mesh . i make them long rectangle ,they lay on the bottom better then the round store bought ones .check minnesotas fish regs for size of traps and limits . and i only keep invasive rusty caryfish .

@@ALLDAYBLAZER amazing dude thanks for the response. I live in the twin cities and am hoping to find out how and when to go to get good crayfish as imports of Louisiana crawfish are now illegal. I used to live in New Orleans and all I want to do is host a boil.

@@ALLDAYBLAZER is leech lake particularly rich in crayfish? Or do you think some place like lake Minnetonka would have em?

@@ALLDAYBLAZER does the bottom need to be rocky? I often go to a cabin near park rapids and hoping to catch up there too using this method

You can still have live crayfish shipped up from Louisiana, they just cost $$$$$. The lakes theses guys are fishing are infested with invasive rusty crayfish. Not all lake and rivers have them , the mn dnr has list of lakes and rivers that have theses invasive crayfish . the native crayfish are not doing because of the rusty crayfish. Thats why i dont keep native ones ,and the native ones are way smaller . Traps are easy to make from 1/4 inch mesh . baits that work , cat food ,hot dogs , and oily fish parts like trout or salmon . Well hope this helps good luck . And one thing respect other people's traps and spots . if you see others traps find a different spot .to many traps in one spot = low numbers in your traps.
